does anyone experience a bit of lag when turning on signal light? i have to wait about one sec before it starts.

also when i go at highway speeds the signal light doesnt flash, but stays on. Lower speeds is okay.

does anyone else have this prob?

faced sumting like ur problem last tym. rev the engine the flashing will get faster ryt? ur flasher relay might have problem. shud be a cheap replacement at most bike shops. after replaced, test by revving ur engine and see if the flashing rate changes. it shudnt change by much.

I live in Thailand and have a Phantom 200 (4+ years now at 68,000 km). The last couple of months I've experienced a big problem starting when the engine is hot. Been looked at by several mechanics. Spark plugs changed, Carburetor cleaned/checked as well as choke, Ignition coil and cap replaced, CDI replaced, new battery. Still very hard to start when hot or will not start at all when hot. Can push start ok. Last thing I've done is carry a spare spark plug. When I had the problem again yesterday, I just popped in the "cold" plug and it started right up. I'm out of ideas and the Thai mechanics seem to be out of ideas.

Never heard of such a case before. Do update us when you find out the root of the problem.

By the way, have you done anything unusual lately? Or changed the things you normally use? example the type/brand of engine oil, air filter, spark plugs?

anyone has any idea what this knocking sound means?

It's the slow irregular interval sound. I'm using ron95 petrol.

piston slap?

Paid a visit to ah Chong and he says its caused by the clutch gears. Its common for older bikes and he says its okay to leave it. Myth busted!

I'll let you know if/when the mechanics figure out the root cause. The latest guess is one of the coils on the flywheel. Coil on order.

Check your wiring?

You can actually gauge roughly the engine health by touching for a moment the engine casing. You should be able to touch the engine for about 0.5 to 1 second before your instinct pulls your hand away. If you can rest your hand there for a long time and never feel 'hot' something is amiss.

Hi, I have this problem plus a weird sound from the engine.. I'm thinking maybe the engine running too hot due to the spoilt cooling thus I can touch it.. is there anything I can try?

I have this interval sound also except mine seem louder and more obvious... I suspect it's caused by overheating piston expansion misalighment due to undercooling.. can you touch the engine cover see if your finger can hold it there? Shouldn't be able if the eo is doing its job..

Hi guys, this metal coil found near the rear brake pedal rusted and broke off. Does anyone knows of its function, the impact of such damage, and the possible fix to this problem? Thanks a lot in advance. I have attached photos of the problem.

dats your rear brake sensor. means now since its broken, wen u step on d rear brake, the brake light doesnt come on. better get it fixed since its a safety issue wen other motorist can't see you braking.

ok i went to get this fixed, so its just a few dollars to get it done. Just to share a possible solution to the popping sound at the exhaust when throttle is closed, a possible fix is to change air filter.

Another thing, my mechanic diagnosed that my phantom popping sound is cause of the air suction. Which will cause 80-90 bucks. I did not want to change it as its too expensive so he help me block the pipe connected to the air suction valve to temporary prevent the sound. Anyone knows the theory behind it?

hmm.. i went to thong seng, the one at pioneer road north. anyway, why did you get your valve changed?

read up online and it says that the air suction valve is mainly to push air into the exhaust valve to:

1) reduce popping under deceleration

2) reduce emissions

so it seems like its not a major mechanical issue if not fixed. jux more popping i guess.

I didnt change. Cause ah chong say not a problem as long as the bike still can move. When i close throttle, got the "bop bop bop" sound. I think its similar to yours.
