Hi.

Have been tossing the idea of getting a Goldwing, I'm currently riding a Silverwing.

I'm very attracted to the bike for its elogence and size. It's my dream to own one.

I travelled 70 km a day thru & back from my office and home, occassionally need to travel between sites at work, travelling mileage is abt 16,000km/yr, mainly E'way.

I seldom go touring.

Almost wanted to get one used one GL 1500 SE but was put off by its FC (abt 12km/litre). I know the GL 1800 has better FC but it's too ex for me.

Any owners here can tell me about the bad points of Goldwing? (I hear too many good points, can I have some bad points?)

Any advice/opinions are welcome.

Thanks.

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

Goldwing was never meant for singapore roads but when i take it up north, it a joy to ride.

But then i have sold it because of my back problems...the wing too heavy for me to handle.

if you intend to get one, suggest you keep a smaller bike for daily commuting.

wanna ride with madness?

+1

If its %100 commuting usage, Singapore City's highway is not a true highway esp. peak hours. You will start to feel envious of the smaller bike after a while. If its my money, I will pick either of the V-strom 650 or 1000.

If it is a used GL 1500, 7years and above you will expect to a no. of things not working e.g LCD display, cassette player that chewed up your tapes , CB transmitter or worst the alternator. The tyres are expensive too :goodluck:

anyway, i miss wildcard.

know a few goldwingers (1800/1500) using the bike daily (including myself). used up $10-$15/day for petrol depending on how i ride, come to think of it, gelang patah is never too far for a GL, and seldom delayed by customs.

The flip side? I'm more aware of peak hours and traffic jams. But rain and drizzles never stops me from continuing my ride. In fact, I've been dressing light even for tours ever since.

Agree, no regrets getting a wing, safest bike in my opinion too, the only bike with airbag.
