after so many headaches, so many tuning attempts.. i just found out a part of one of the needle holder (that black rubber piece holding the needle, is it called diaphragm?) in my carb was broken. thats what caused the loss of compression for one of the cylinders. poo.

from what my current mech said (was there when he took the thing out, so i know its not him), the prev mech did not take out one of the metal retainers (he showed it to me, but i dont know what is it called) when he put the needles in. and he did not put the needle holder back properly, so a part of it broke. oh well. i'll have to change it, wonder how much it costs. this is just a rant thou.. :weep:

ah and yeah, the last person to touch my carbs for my last 2 tunings AND change of jets/needles was clifford from k&t. poo. not sayin its him BUT.. who knows?

anybody dares to open the carbs apart?

it seems more complicated than a normal carb. thats why. read somwhere that the float can get stuck at times and it can affect performance.

anyone here has the tools for opening spark plug? dun want to end up in shop wandering half a day, if its the spark plugs or carbs.

i still think its my carbs. still getting stuck at rpm 12

the fuel tank tap which i modified is working fine. feels smoother. hopefully after service can fly again

There was this one time when i park my bike & off the fuel c***. When I start again the next day, I forgot to on it back but the bike can still ride, only that it dies off every few minutes. I cursed & swear but eventually stopped at the road shoulder after go in highway. Then i realised i forgot to turn on the c***. After that, I promise myself never to be so smart alec when u got poor memory. Anyway, my RVF seldom overflow so it;s safe.

Seriously I find myself too lazy to strip eveything off - Mirrors, air intake, seat, etc... so guess it was first time & last time I DIY. Anyway, i normally change plug once every 6 - 9 months at the same time do the setting for the carburettor. After that will confirm feel shiok :thumb:  :giddy:

AHhhhhh~~!! a Refreshiiing sight to see bubbles of technical talk coming to life in this thread after so long....

ANyhoo...regarding the Fuel Tap mod, Amba...best to switch to "OFF" each time you park for overnite long as now your fuel feed system is working entirely on gravity effect. You definitely dun wana risk flooding the carbs.

As for the rest of us earthly road-going folks with the status-quo vacuum tap, it is fine to leave it in ON unless your fuel tap is faulty. If not there is no worry of "uncontrolled" fuel flooding into the carbies as no vaccum effect is created in "PARKING" mode to pull the fuel down. I leave mine in ON all the time too.

i think 1.5k is too high...me put at around 1.1 - 1.2...the bike wont die as i just spent quite alot on tuning my carbs...if your bike keep dying at low rpm then let it be at 1.5 loh

tuning, they play with main jets, needle jets and pilot jets than balance it

balancing they smoothen the idling

in rvf, to do tuning, u need minimum a factory pro stage 1 kit. rvf stock needle not adjustable
