Ownership issue

Hi guys..

pls help...

 

juz bought a bike from someone,

suddenly he says that he had cleared his instalment,

but the bike shop did not release his bike,

therefore, unable to transfer ownership..

is this common?

 

coz i've already paid for the bike and insurance has been bought...

 

pls advice..

Dude,

Somehow I have this distinct feeling that you have been bamboozled by the previous owner. From what I gather, you paid for the bike in full to the owner & not to the shop where the bike was (or still is) under hire purchase. I think that the owner did not pay for the remainder of the installments after taking the money from you.

 

Unless he has some form of receipt or letter of full settlement, I suggest you and the previous owner go down to the shop and settle the matter once and for all.

 

When I sold off my old bike to a private buyer, both of us went down to the shop together and after receiving the money from him at the shop, I paid off the installment and took possession of the log card. Then, both of us went over to LTA to change ownership and thereafter, change insurance.

 

That should be the proper way.

Well, its common that bikeshops never took off that computer tag of a particular bike even when its fully paid off.

 

Happened to me last year. Bought a kup kia that was full paid and was laid off at a carpark.

 

But the bikeshop never change that status and my mechanic was left cooling their heels at the LTA until I call the seller and he called the bikeshop to release the bike for transfer.

 

The mechanic was able to finish the transfer by the next day.

 

You have to confirm with the seller and bike shop that transaction can be completed or you will need to get your money back.

but why the heck they need 1 week to check?

 

and... is it possible for the bike shop to transfer the bike to my name directly?

instead of transferring to the seller then transfer to me..

No, there is no need for 1 week to check, and no, its not possible because you didnt give money direct to bikeshop, so they can only release the bike to owner and then transfer to you.

Hmm dude,i am not sure wif tat bikeshop...U can try asking ard whether its credible anot...Hopefully it is not like S****B****,which went mssing out of sudden and leaving many bikes stranded.

Hmmm,i tink some of these documents includes:

 

1)Form B (This form proves and shows that your bike is "released" from the bikeshop)

 

2)Another of your orginal key (Believe that the bike will hav 2 Original key,1 is given to you and 1 is kept by the bikeshop)

 

3)Receipt? - If you hav settled ur installment early,make sure that the bikeshop will issue u a receipt as a prove.

 

4)Log card - Heard that it is actually of not much use now.But no harm getting it back and noe the details of ur bike etc. COE ends when,chassis number,etc.

Hi, i think this will be sent to your home or can get from onemotoring even if bikeshop never give... if they give then save trouble lor hehe~!!
