V-Strom (650cc & 1000cc)

hmmm... mine's was SOMEHOW similar to yrs.
my NEW vee also cannot start (due to faulty rectifier, a lemon) on the 1st day after 100km of riding, i went back the next working day & Lee arrange for me to go back GH for warranty.
I can SOMEHOW sense that he's trying to play Tai-Chi (shifting the responsibility away), but at least he put it in a polite & friendly tone.
BUT I'm still glad that although Looi's dun replaced for me, they offer me a solution.

This is what I encounter:
1) Lee tell me FREE OIL & labour for 1st 3 servicing but mec try to charge me =( Of cos I didn't paid for it in the end.
2) 1st time I'm charged $22 for OEM oil filter by the OLDER chinese mec, 2nd time Ahmad (did I get his name right) charged me only $16!!!

mafita, thanks for your advice. I will be doing the throttle sync as well. The light switch already has it when I bought.

chrislayer, I did went back on Friday's afternoon to highlight that there are something wrong with the bike and I have changed the battery because my vee cannot start. The old man just brushed away my claims. He did told me to come back on Monday though, but what is the pont? If he is genuinely sincere, he would have told me to leave the bike there and do a check. Come back Monday ? He think everyone so free no need to work !

Firstly, he told me that he will be providing the first time servicing before delivery the vee to me. He didn't , the oil was as black as my face now!

Secondly, he told me off that I should test ride the bike before buying ! What a joke ! when he was the one who sweared by it that the bike is in good condition and belongs to his friend etc etc etc. I went there with strong recommendations from my friends and with his reputation, i thought I could trust his words.

Thirdly, with all the above. What is the point to go back and bang the table when I know I gain nothing out of it? They are no longer trust worthy a bike shop in my own opinion. First and last time I will go there for anything.

Anyway, maybe its an isolated case. I won't want to look back at it cursing and swearing. I just want to RIDE !

Sorry to hear about both your bad experience. I only went them to buy the bike, for servicing I went 4 corners of Singapore before settling and feeling comfortable with a few shop. Probably Old man knows that he's the one who brings in the bike (and a few others) that y his attitude like that. Like always; consumer suffer. Probably that's y also that's very little V Strom on the SG. Thank god I pay my installment by Giro cos I feel like lazy to go Looi every month. Lol.

it's with 40m go dead slow on the right of road the shop front is pretty small look for KS motor ,look like some old chinese hardware shop full of boxes for suzuki parts manned by 2 olk folks

Thanks Reddy and Mordecai for your info. Though my K7 is already 3 years old and the original battery is still good, I thought it will be best to change it. I bought my 650 from Looi's motor in 2007 and I have not had any problem with the bike till today. I found it to be very comfortable for 2 up touring at around speed of 120km to 140km. My fuel consumption after 3 years average about 25km/l. The vstrom is, in my opinion, a very reliable bike and good bike.

Own it only for 4months, reason selling is that i under ultilised the bike and need more of a communter than a tourer. Some of the servicing and parts replacement i have done at KnT are cleaning and tuning of injectors, throttle sync,new thermostat and some more other things i've forgotton. Elliot, COE expires 2010 so e price includes new COE to 2020 right? Just curious how your loan can extend beyond 1st COE if COE is not renewed. Asking for a friend.

Wee owners will know what I'm facing. The heat shield material is rough and it traps mud stains which is hard to wash off. Stains usually remain even after scrubbing. I decided to send that part for a proper paint job at a paint shop ($35). Still retaining the slightly matt texture but smooth enough to wash/wipe off. It was given a black paint followed by a clear coat over it.

You can DIY with a spray can but I do not have time for that.

I was not 100% sure about spray paint sticking so I sent in for professional spray paint. Should have a primer layer. Any car spray paint shop should be able to do it. I did mine at Alexandra, nearer to me.

Same sentimental. I am going to spray it when i am free... Not sure whether if this kind of texture can be spray paint or not...

hello... im saying only for my Vee...others might be different...

Base on Vee speedo

Cruising 160km/h

Topspeed 220km/h

but base on my GPS... 220km/h is only 200+ km/h

Its kinda slow for a litre bike...
