hmmm for small bikes if anything happens the repair cost is nt as much as a big bike. repairing in malaysia also has its pros and cons. hmm my suggest is if u don trust the bike shops here, u can just take it to the agent and repair there. mite be more expensive i thin k but they use original parts. for yamaha its at ubi there. just my humble 2 cents..

Just BEcause I fOllOw The speed LIMIT DoesnT mEan i am slow!!

repair (verb) - to restore to a good or sound condition after decay or damage; mend: to repair a motor.

i pay my S11 only when this is satisfied. period.

Hi threadstarter,

i spoke to the boss of Hup Hin, and according to him, the $300 charged was for labour, and the cost of a new CDI, which was programmed according to your ignition key.

I think it is fair by all accounts.

Even if you get admitted in a hospital, and the doctor gave you a diagnostic that you do not believe, and you subsequently choose to have a second opinion, you still have to pay for the initial hospital stay and doctor's fees right?

Is there any free lunch in the world? Please tell me where to sign up.

That being said, thanks for enlightening us with a noobie account of what a owner should and should not do when a bike has broken down.

Using copper wire and burnt up a new CDI? Its their fault for using the wrong things instead of the original ones.

wow... i am fully convinced now, some SBF forummers are just like those in Stomp. I'm glad that i provided entertainment for the above posters for the last 3 hours.

The reason i speak out, is because i frequent that shop, among many other shops. I go where i know i will not get cheated or conned, and i open my eyes when my bike is being serviced. Because i am pro-active, i have not had much of an incident worth raising hell over. I'm not an old bird regarding bike servicing and repairs, but i have own bikes for 15 years.

Look, my point is not to chastise the threadstarter. My intention is just to bring up the fact that there are 2 sides of the story to be heard. Say what you want, the rest of the posters, and remember to post something in Stomp to entertain me back.

Maybe when your bike is filled with copper wire and fried. It's your turn to post something here to entertain us?? haha

Ride Safe.

For scooters there's only a handful of shops that specialise in scooters only. They used to group in Kallang industrial park and most is still there less one shifted out.

I guess its always good to have some information on the shops that usually service X9 or scooters in your make. Its not very hard to find the info as internet is very useful to everyone.

For me I patronise KC at kallang because the Mech/boss Ah Choong is a long time friend of mine. And i know i can trust him alot. All my scooters have been service by him and so will my future scooters. :)

Its very hard to find a mechanic you trust if you dun put in effort to find out.

So, have your tow truck number on hand, your mech's number, Always remember to regularly service and take care of your bike, and there will be minimum problems.

Sad to hear TS's encounter with the shop involved, once bitten twice shy. Thanks to his help, we won't have to be shy because he stood out and shared his experience.

Well mine is worst, i think... I send my VTR SP1 at Ubi bikeshop for overhaul...was thinking to sent on June 2010 but the Boss said send in now because he is free due no much bike to do & told me it will take only 2mth to overhaul(So confident). So taking him as fren, i trusted him..So on April, I send the bike there....(the mistake just began)

May and Jun nothing was done..So i asked him when he gonna to down the engine....He replied..not to worried, can do very fast!...So i trusted him & gave him $1.5k & told him that i need to used the bike...Well, he down & strip the engine until now saying waiting for the parts or bz with other bike. Many times i reminded him that i need to used the bike & was told 2 weeks time can be ready.

In August, i asked him again & was told that my money not enough due the body frame & swingarm send for powdercoat...& the parts is coming & giving all the crap excuses...

Then Sept this week, i decided to bring out the bike from the workshop( all in pieces due overhaul)..Just imaging how frusted i am all the lies that he been telling....

Just want to share a sad story. Few weeks ago my X9 broke down at BKE with all the power cut off. The Lorry uncle sent my bike to this shop called H.. H.. at Bukit Merah Lane.

Because I'm in rush for being late to meet customer, I leave the bike there for checking.

At first, they told me my CDI got problem, need to replace a new one, cost 2xx. And then later told me my magnetic coil is the one causing problem, not CDI, cost 170. So I'm happy that it cost cheaper instead of replacing the CDI. When I go down to pass them my master key, they told me my magnetic coil no problem, it is a new one, probably wiring got problem, they will fix it for me.

Ok, next day they called me told me, "your bike big problem, fuses keep burning, probably cost more than 1k to repair, i suggest u trade in to us to get new bike, not worth for repairing it since this bike already 6+ years." Damn, I feel something is not right, and asked another shop towed it back to check. But this H.. H.. insist I pay all the cost of $300 before I get back my bike, in the process of checking and repairing, they burnt a new CDI, they want me bear the cost.

Great, I have no choice but paid the $300. When my bike reached the other shop, they found out H.. H.. ppl use a copper wire to replace the fuse to avoid new fuses keep burning, now all the electronic part all get burnt...LCD Meter, Rectifier....etc , costed me a bomb to repair......

They ask you to pay $300 before you can tow away your bike. In this case you shall not pay them. Just ask them $300 means what? If it is for repair cost, than the bike shall be workable after repair. Since they never repair or unable to make it workable than just continue to tow your bike away. What can they do to you? The owner of the bike have the right to tow his property away, if the motor shop is not happy the most they file a law case on you which will cause them some fee to hire a lawer. If motor shop don't allow you to tow away they are consider illegal possession of other property. Than they may get into trouble with the Law.

Innards, why are you so stupid? If we send our bike to bike shop and leave it there for repair, it means that we are reushing for time. Do you think everybody in the whole world are "free" like you to sit there "intelligently & dilligently" to see how they service your bike? Of course when we put our bike there simply means we trust them. Also, i read the law before: When an item/product is under repair of the company, the company shall be fully responsible for the damages and other miscellanous fees if the item/product incur damage(s). So "PROFESSOR", understand the law and how it works? Or you wanna go hire a legal consultant? Just make sure you don complain or grudge when this incident happen to you, "friend".
