I really cannot get it! Isn't it that because of CONGESTION that they are building more gantries? Then what the hell that cars can have COE at $2??? To save the car industry? I thot that was Obama's problem?

^ hi chuan.z, i noe there are other threads in news section and 4 wheelers. but to have bike COE more than 1600cc car is absurd. the COE bidding system is a complete failure to control the car population. i think it is oredi controlled by the cartels. wait for super congestion coming up - stupid system!

Agree with you COE is a complete failure. Somemore now is a open biding system, so what's next, all cat of cars (except cat D) will drop to $1?

COE for CAT A fixed at $30k

For Cat B fixed at $40k

Adjustments base on inflation.

 

Then no need ERP, no need road tax.

At least it let many have a chance to own a car....But it can be a trap as well...when rule of 30% down canceled.

30% down means you can push in the car any one time when even you cannot finance the car...simple as that.....

Now??? You die die have to pay even bank takes back the car....As your loan is more than the market value...

I would say this is a killer as many kept thinking they can afford a car...Well...Next year will be a very bad year...

I can have people earning 1.2k buying OPC and tell mi is affordable...One month $300 plus wat....Oh my god.....

Banks might get it......Too many people buy above their means...Let say bank loan out 10 millions...those people just buy cars and repay bank 1 million...Next year all bankrupt....

Bank still got 9 millions haven collected back....Then auction all the cars....Still lose 3 millions...

Simple example.....That one of the reason why US is in deep shxt now...

Well, to me the COE & ERP still works. When you look at the bigger picture, you can see why we need both. If you've been to KL & Bangkok, you'll see that toll booths alone are not enough to curb vehicle population & prevent congestion. When you've driven in both cities, you'll know that their jams are far worse than ours. Vehicles are moving at a snails pace. At least the congestion in our highways are still moving.

 

The $2 COE was a fluke but not a one-off thingy... Happened before.

Thts's the point....Is hard to get loan approved.....

Have to understand bank to pay the money in full whereby those who loan only pay partial...When times are bad...The money goes out might not be back.....

Next year it will hit us badly.......

COE is like a marker......If it is low....times are bad.....Not accurate but more or less there......

COE controls the number.....But cannot control the traffic.....ERP controls the traffic......

Shouldn't bike COE be at $0.20 if car at $2 ...

If supply more than demand....COE dropped.....and vice verse...

This COE thing is driven by money....Need it now pay more.....and more...

Car dealer I guess evey month COE was maxed out....So there can be only so much....just that which manufacturer gets more sales....

 

Only when times are real bad...You can see COE supply more than demand......Be prudent.......My friends in manufacturing line are worried....Very low volume....Butterfly effect should reach us next year Q2 or so...

Just get everyone to bid at $1 with fixed quota then everyone happy liao mah.
