Dopod 818 or O2 atom?

HI, last few months ago, i heard comments about choosing dopod 818 than O2 atom. Cause O2 atom got lots of problem. But currently there's a new software update for O2 atom and i heard lessen problem.

 

Which PDA will you choose?

I am using Dopod 818 pro, my personal review.

The camera service is damn lousy but the phone interface is not bad and is very simple to use. I heard only Dopod got Chinese software, even though O2 is part of the same group of companies, so if U need to read Chinese SMS chose Dopod. Starts fast but the battery life is quite short if U are hearing music. At most, 5 hrs then the battery will run out.

erm what about the function? The Wifi connection. Any error often?

wifi ok la.. i onli use my hse wireless.. so far so gd... surf net msn all this not very slow...

i'm thinking which to get.

 

my basic use is surf net, msn, sms(writing), call, task scheduling, reading pdf and words document. so i'm looking for fast processing instead of storage.

not really looking for music capabilities though radio tuning would be a plus point. dopod or atom have it?

whatz the price of the 2?

 

would appreciate if any proud owners of dopod/atom would give me some inputs

my 818pro is running at IT OMAP 264Mhz, 838pro at samsung 500Mhz.

both phone batt life span can't last more than 30hrs.

ohh, i seldom use e 838pro, i onli use e 818pro for tasks, notes, music (while riding onli), calender, no calls/sms/surf net.

u overclock ur PDA?

 

anyway, i recommend 838Pro over those 2. if really between 818 n Atom, i say go for Atom.

hi, but which atom are you refering? Atom or atom exec?

 

Heard from my close friend, atom had been giving him lots of problem even though he updated the latest version.

donno if threadstarter was referring to Atom or Atom Exec, but in my opinion, Atom Exec is way better wif a faster proc speed n much bigger ROM size.

 

from wad i read in PPCSG, Atom was oredi stable wif the latest update. im not sure why ur fren said it still isnt.

 

anyway, im using a IIs running on WM5. been wanting an 838Pro... but no $ liao.

yup, i believe u. but i still feel that the 838Pro is more enticing than any of the 5.

yeah i checked the upcoming dopod models. i think 1 of them come with 3g capabilities, which all o2(to date, i think) dont have.

get 838Pro... got 3G got keyboard. kboard really useful when u nid to SMS while walking or inside moving vehicle.

of cos batt life drains up much faster than normal.

i tested it just now, ard 200mins non-stop playing MP3 with phone function ON, it drains up ard 35%.

 

i kept my 838p at home, to mi it's a piece of crap.. lol~!!! (no offence to all using it)

reason:

1) e samsung 400MHz processor doesn't perform up to my standard. even with o/c e B.C is still slighty lesser 818p.

 

2) e thickness of 838p, i can live with 595 & 818p (using both now).

 

3) e 'roller' button at e side, sometimes i can scroll & enter using it, but sometimes when i use it, it'll change to adjusting e volume.

 

4) e keyboard is a add-on, but i'm used to letter-recogniser. there's a delay of e orientation of screen during slide-out.

 

5) most impt of all, mine got screen alightment problem.!!!!! =(
