Potential fraud/cheated by renting bike from s.o. What should I do?

Hi, I m not sure what to do so looking for some helps here.

 

Last year OCT I rented a bike from s.o who claimed he doesnt need to use the bike for a while. It s only a few months old CB190R with reasonable fee.

 

Everything seems legit, Singaporean owner, hired purchased from Southern motor. He added me as a subrider. Monthly i just transferred him the fee and ride. I have a signed personal contract with him, also paid him $2000 deposit.

 

Only yesterday I was back from oversea just to found out Sthe shop already recalled the bike since the owner never pay the instalment for almost 5 months. (Basically since I took over the bike). I was totally shocked to see the bike disappearred from my car park and even called the police. He did not even inform me before hand. When I ask him he told me story about having another bike and also rented out to a friend and that one never paid so the shop recalled both of the back (which is bs) and promise to settle this only by end of next month (march) by either getting back the bike or giving me back my money .

What should I do in this case? I afraid I cant get back my $2k. As a foreigner I have no exp in handling this situation so any help would be appreciated.

Ps I still have the contract and all the conversation with him on whatsapp/sms and a police log from yesterday.

your best course of action is to lodge a police report at the nearest neighbourhood police station immediately
