Have you guys tried OWS 650? I can bet you it's a miracle product for cleaning chain and sprocket. Not oily or greasy. Smells pleasant to the nose unlike kerosene. Highly recommended bikers!

Is 650 or 610? As I couldn't find any information about this product in google.

how many oiling jobs can the ows 650 last?

OWS 610. Depends how much you use it. Another cheaper method is to use kerosene and paint brush/tooth brush to wipe off the dirt. Have a Tupperware for the kerosene to drip down from your chain while brushing.

Btw, anyone tried Motul chain lube? Need comments. Currently using maxima chain and cable lube. Not bad. Only that the liquid is yellowish and will dirty the chain again. I heard Motul one is transparent liquid.

The after...even the rust is visible. Total spent: $5.60 on a bottle of kerosene, rubber gloves and paint brush.

get some ATF fluid to lube your chain. great stuff for chain. a good penetrating oil, anti-corrosion, anti-shear, anti-wear,high-detergent and dispersant etc. almost all the propeties a chain needed. only issue is it kind of thin and flick off easily so got to lube it often. but it cheap.

measure e length of ur swing arm to e floor(right side ur ur bike).... add a few cm to it.... den take a piece of long wooden stick, saw it to that measurement... den just use that to jack up ur rear tire.

For bikes without mainstand and paddock, how do you clean your chains? Do you clean, push bike, clean again or get someone to help you spin the wheel while you lift the bike sideways?

that's what i do. cos i normally clean my chain at night. who's going to help? paiseh to keep asking for help also.

anyway, i used to have scottoiler installed on my old bike, i haven't installed them on my current bike yet. but even when i was riding my old bike, i never believed that it cleans my chain. i clean and lube it less often, but in no way i believe a chain oiler like scottoiler cleans your chain. to me, it a supplement, not a substitute. but to each their own.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

all welcome for a ezzyoiler demo...

come and view my bike chains...it is not !00% clean like brand new...

but i have not clean my chains for almost 2 years..since i had it on..

i am certain you will approve..

allow me to quote..

Big thanks to ezzyoiler for sharing the principle behind his chain lube gadget. Though I haven't installed the ezzyoiler, I'm applying his principles "manually". My chain is now free of all those "gunk", looks like brand-new-out-of-the-box and most importantly looks lubricated.

Thanks, mate! :)[/quote

well guys...i think ezzyoiler can achieve that if you want to...

and you dont have to spend a lot of money on chains cleaner to do that..snd at the end off the day you chain is already lube for the next ride..

Which skool are you in,

Old Skool: like to remove the chain and dip it in this and that chemical, then apply lubricant, then refit chain. These ppl will insist on using the coin phone at the Kopi Shop, cos they no have hand phone yet. Chain lasts 10,000-15,000 km.

New Skool: Use auto-oiler. Got no time for nonsense, always need to rush here and there. Always got latest handphone. Chain lasts 50,000km or more.

well said..

i remember once in a meeting ..some where ...with a bunch of 'local" industrailist of the cooking oil industries..

with the minister of trade/industries with regards to the exise tax payable on import of crude palm oil..and its by product..

they opose to the tax rebates given to our refinery imports ..for the simple reason they cannot compete with the imported stuff and and refined in the latest refinery technologies.

the minister approve the tax rebates ..reason is that you cannot stop the improvement in technologies...

so like the mobilephone analogies..u cannot stop technology improvement or else you will be left behind when the tme comes..

so take a look at the latest or what is available in the market...to reduce cost , time and hassle in whatever you do...at the end of the day..you will have more time on your hands compared to the guy next to you insisting the old ways are better..

no offense to anyone..this is my personal view..

the weekend is round the corner..

have you make your date yet??

this one date you will rather miss..ie a date with chain cleaning..

a fun chore when you have your first bike...now you still find it fun?

not me..with time and technological improvements...this chain cleaning cost....is getting lower .

beforel ezzyoiler is available..chain oilers are expensive to install and high operations cost..thats why most prefered to do it manually and others ..unwisely..leave it to the workshop. incidentally they oiled the chain with used engine lube. giving u a false sense of security. eventually chain life suffers and replacement done prematurely..

i take my hats off to them...for giving you free lubing service and you thought they are doing a marvellous job.

but i know they have done a disservice to you..as they are going to have more chains replacement than neccessary.

so is this a rip off that you accepted heartedly?? well since you approve..then i suppose that is a beautiful con job..

now with the low cost ezzyoiler you know better....

any way have a nice date..with chain cleaning.

while those with ezzyoiler is going out to a real date..[/

i agree with ezzyoiler that a oiling device does clean the chain. the catch is there must be enough oil flow from the oiler. on typical oiling dosage the cleaning effect is there but minimum. to get the best effect, just give it a few more pump of oil and the oil will easily soak the chain and remove a good amount of gunk.

The recommended oil to use with this oiler is some cheap 2T EO. 2T EO has a decent amount of detergent / dispersant in it which original purpose is to keep the engine clean. We all know most 2T engine oil is about 20-30Wt which is quite watery . 2 advantages with a low viscosity EO are it flicks off easily together with dirt bind and dislodge by the detergent / dispersant and it does not attract dirt as easily as a thicker oil or wax.

i suppose some do ..somewhere..i am sure this guy is a fanatic or a nicer description =perfectionist.

now lets face it who does that??

most riders do not even own a proper set of bike tools for simple adjustment and repairs..

and now have to get specialise tools for chain maintenance..and the training to do do it properly?? mind you this dismantling of the chains and reassembly..if it can be done..must be done correctly or else good luck to you and your bike.

as i said..oilers now are affordable...that actually saves time , money and all the hassles..

how clean a chain you want you can decide for yourself...

very clean chains..very clean..get prepared to clean your rims after every ride..

but some dont care and just want a tip top chains...

for most of us..we just settle down to a condition we are comfortable with .90% ,80% clean,..ie with respect to clean chains and the amount of effort we are prepared to invest in. and who doesnt want an extended chain life..

a low cost oiler will be able to accomplish what you require..

so at the end of the day is your decision to fulfill your requirements..

clean chains at what cost and hassle ??? this you only can answer.
