hey guys,

 

been reading up this thread....very good info i must say!! (thanks to all those who have contributed!!

 

jus checking...any latest updates on betong or the enroute ??:?

 

think i just might be heading there this wk if i get bored ...prob a 4 day trip. (wed to sat maybe ??)

 

any advice would be valuable and much appreciated (since its my first time and i will most prob be riding solo.)

personal experience at sri betong hotel -

pretty disappointed with the room, the fridge have a foul dead fish kinda smell

 

try the new hotel after the mongkolit tunnel..new and looks clean, just dat its a bit far from where the heart of the town is...u can post a review here after trying:thumb:

 

lastly enjoy the ride .........and twisties if u decide to head back by coastal route....

To all who are going to Betong, try to reach there between 7am - 6pm. The Betong Immigration Checkpoint only opens during these times. So, do take note!

 

For me, my bf and I missed the timing and had to stay at Pengkalan Hulu for the night! :slapforehead:

Ah! Open until 10pm... I checked with the locals... They said it's only on public holidays... If normal days, it's only until 6pm...

 

That's why I had to stay at Pengkalan Hulu for the night to wait for the customs to open at 7am.

New schedule starts on 1st Jan 2009 lah kah kah kah...

Info from border staffs both sides...err I think 10 pm thai...11 pm malaysia..I'll check and post here after my 2008 closing ride to Betong...I am trying to avoid xmas and new year..too crowded to my likings...

 

anyone plan to go? we can ride same-same

Latest update on border opening: 10pm closing is postponed indefinitely until the Thai cabinet approved....due to recent political turmoil they have more important things to do :)

I dont really get you but golok itself is a proper town much bigger than Betong. What route? Betong-Yala-Narathiwat? If you want to use southern thai road do so at bright daylight

Southern Thailand is in trouble now as you know. Golok town is not spared, unlike Betong. Narathiwat, Patani and Yala have many interesting place just google...

I just came back Betong last night, It my 7th times !!!!!!:angel::angel:

I like this place cos Nice food, Nice enjoying place & also a lot of beuty Mei Mei however 10hrs journey from south M'sia to south Thai !!!!:sweat::sweat:

 

In this 3 days, I was visit few WAT(Temple) in Betong. For me quite good, more exciting was going a WAT in army camp at 29km Betong-Bangkok!

 

For Nightlife, all Betong Agogo pub I was entering :cheers:, Best 1 is Kongkar Worst 1 is 0 two( insite Hotel Garden View, due to argument within Management & Show Girls).

 

For Hotel, Im strongly recommend Sweet Home, Its Privacy like our home.:sleep:

 

Food, recommend a stall at Friendly Village, Homely Food & nice!

 

Massage, DaiMond Massage is a good Tranditional Massage central, the lady boss can speak Mandarin & vy friendly.

 

OK lah go try urself!!!!!!!!

May I Know which border? Betong or Kayu?

As I know Kayu is until 12 midnight & Betong also same since 15/1/09.

Garden view hotel is good & new but housekeeping so so, also the pub name O2 now no more any thaigirl show quite boring!
