I've been looking at a few threads in singaporebikes.com and also the classifieds section and it seems that suddenly there're a lot of people looking for ET8s and there're none for sale!

Probably because ET8 is no longer in production. It means that they are only available second hand now...

Should up the value of your ET8... if you can bear to part with it. :giddy:

Hei guys, tot of sharing with you..

I send my ET8 for servicing at Kenny's yesterday and got a rude shock... for one my engine oil can't be detected on the dip stick (which I just found out where it is located yesterday).:faint:

I should still be able to run another 2K km but decided to just change the entire engine oil rather than top-up. I am not sure if ET8 is an engine-oil guzzer...any comments?

Secondly he spotted a crack on my transmission belt which is a result of wear and tear...(even though my ET8 is barely 5 mths old on the road). This could be a consequence of high revving for fast pick-up and riding at max speed at most times... He can tell that by looking at the mark on the belt :sian: Still can go another couple of thousand km before I have to change the belt...

So moral of the story is to check your engine oil level regularly and be kind to your scooter in terms of riding speed, to make sure the longevity of your ET8.....

The et8 150cc leader engine is design with more valve clearance on the exhaust valve.

Meaning, it will consume oil in time to come. So check engine oil every 1000km.

It's already like that since ET4 125 days.

It never fail to amaze how much things I've learnt ever since I own a scooter. Haiz. Latest hEARt PaiN....

RE: CABLE ON STRIKE

My speedeometer and mileage counter SUDDENLY stopped working last nite. And it was VERY SUDDEN.

There I was riding hepily - la di da... - everything fine and dandy... stopped for petrol and then I was off again - BUT WAIT! something is amiss! why isn't the speed meter moving???!!!

:giddy:

So off we go to Piaggio clinic this morning (cautiously of course) to get it fixed...

WHAT I'VE LEARNT:

The speedeometer and mileage counter cable (they share one cable) which can be seen running along your front tyre is positioned at a particular angle. Unfortunately this angle is quite odd and sometimes can't hold. So over time, the cable will loosen/ burst/ or simply decide to go wonk.

The fortunate riders will NEVER face this problem and continue an oblivious existence. The rest will just have to learn.

HOW TO PREVENT THIS:

Don't think there is any prevention. This is not based on one's riding skill or ability.... *for which I heave a HUGE sigh of relief*

There you go... another case study for fellow newbies...

Hi guys,

What's the milleage count for ET8, when there are 4 digits? Is it in the 10,000? For eg, 002463.

I'm also wondering if bike shops usually spray paint the bike when it was bought over on the basis the previous owner did not maintain the paintwork?

Did the early batch of ET8s come with a box?

I guess it depends on the bikeshop but however if the paint work is seriously very run down, I guess they might paint it.

Yup it should come with a box.

Interested in getting an Et8?

Hi Shinkai,

Thank you for replies! Yeah, kinda. deciding between a GT or ET8.

The one i saw din hv a box. Just felt a little dodgy that it's given a paint job before sales. THought usually the buyer would have to bear the costs or at least share some.

Shinakai hi.

Havent hear from you for ages. How did your exams go?

I've just read the thread a new ET8 rider put up the immbolisier etc etc and I could help but laugh aloud.. which is of course very unkind of me. Perhaps you could invite them to this thread?

It has been pretty quiet here lately - I can hear the echos of your last message...

Cheers!:cheer:

Hiya, my exams were done very well and yes it has been long since we last chat over here!

The reason why i bumped up this thread was to make them aware of this ET8's thread. hehee..

Btw you should spell "shinkai" and not "shinakai" =P

Pink is nice what.... especially with matching helmet :)

With regards to respraying, I heard it is cheaper to do it in JB. I think you can check with KennySeaw, PM him.
