City keen to add firepower with Berbatov bid

Manchester City are reported to have made an audacious bid to steal Dimitar Berbatov away from under the noses of cross-city rivals Manchester United.

Reports suggest that a bid 'in excess of £30million' has been tabled for the Bulgarian striker and has been accepted by Tottenham, with manager Mark Hughes confirming to Sky Sports News that he hoped to meet the player later on Monday.

With Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment looking set to take over City, after Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra agreed to sell his share in the club, the potential new owners will plunge transfer funds into the side immediately.

Berbatov has made it clear that he wants to leave White Hart Lane and could be interested in linking up with international team-mate Martin Petrov at Eastlands.

Tottenham have been in talks with United for the past few weeks, but there has been no breakthough, with the club unwilling to budge from their £30million asking price.

United have pursued Berbatov since the start of the summer, but their £20million valuation of the Bulgarian fell some £10million short of what Spurs want and recent media reports have suggested that United's 20-year-old striker Fraizer Campbell could be made part of the deal.

nt reli true .. to me evra and tevez is the both serious player playing .. others is like wasting their time n our time watching ... hate tis kind of matches deliver from man utd except for 2nd half slight better after park came in.. hai ..

I don't really think Evra played well at that match.

BPL is tough NOT just for Brazilian .... for anyone in particular.

The best example is Shevchenko.

The ultimate flop.

Reds sign Berbatov

Manchester United are delighted to announce the signing of Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian international striker, 27, has signed a four-year contract after joining from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.

As part of the deal, United striker Fraizer Campbell will spend the rest of the 2008/09 season on loan at White Hart Lane.

Upon becoming a United player, Dimitar told ManUtd.com: "Joining Manchester United is a dream come true for me. I look forward to playing my part in helping this club win more honours in the years to come."

Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted to finally capture the elegant striker and admitted: "This is a key signing. Dimitar is one of the best and most exciting strikers in world football.

"His style and ability will give the team a different dimension and I’m sure he will be a popular player with the fans." :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

yeah a shocker as well. the new owner of city sure got a lot of money. so lets c hw city will cope. to aim at the top 4 u need to overhaul the whole team juz like chelski did hehe. but not for Man United. wif SAF around i'm sure united still hunger for more.

MANCHESTER UNITED super signing Dimitar Berbatov has roared: Now is my time!

The Bulgarian ace joined the champions in a £31million deal from Tottenham in the early hours of this morning.

Berbatov has earned a reputation as one of the most fearsome strikers in the Premier League.

And he has warned United's rivals that he is only going to get better at Old Trafford.

He said: "I've handled expectation and pressure throughout my life — I'm not scared of that. That's why I'm here.

"The most important thing is to enjoy myself, help the team win more trophies and to thank the fans.

"If I do that and show what I can do like I did at Tottenham, I don't think they'll be any problems.

"I hope my peak years are still to come. I'm 27 years old and now is my time.

"This is perhaps the last club in my career and the biggest club in the world. "I feel I can develop in the way I want here and the way I've always wanted. That's the most important thing."

United boss Alex Ferguson has also revealed how they could have saved £20m on Berbatov — by beating Tottenham to sign him for £11m two years ago.

He said: "We tried to get him when he was at Bayer Leverkusen but we only had a few days to get the deal done.

"Tottenham had already made a bid. Unfortunately, we hadn't moved at the right time two years ago.

"Now we've managed to get him. It's cost us a bit more money but he's worth it." :goodluck:
