Tire patching

Hi, I understand that when there's a hole in the tires, we will usually stuff the 'worm' thingy in to block the hole.

 

I heard there's a type of patching for cars where the tire will be patched from the inside with some rubber thingy. Can bikes do that? Anyone knows where and how much to do it?

Had mine done at Koon's yesterday. Any bike service shop should be able to do it. You may also get a tyre-patch kit and DIY, if you do, my advice is do it where you have access to a tyre air-pump.

not much bike shop provide this service..

th patch may not suitable the tyre type as the glue may not be able to suit the tyre compound..

i noe there is a shop at admiralty do it at a cost of abt 30 bucks..

Ah Koon does it? Did he just insert a long thing into the hole or did he remove the whole tire and patch the tire from inside?

remove the tyre from the rim and patch it from inside out..

is like a rubber button to cover the hole..

Go to Boy Kallang.. his shop is next to Kallang Cycle.

 

He will dismount your tyre and send it to a tyre repair shop nearby which specializes in patching the tyre from the inside.

 

They apply a patch on the inside of the tyre and use heat and pressure to melt the patch in place.

 

I used to do that with my CBR1000RR tyres... its safe enough for hard track riding too. I know coz I have done that not once but a few times.

He will dismount your tyre and send it to a tyre repair shop nearby which specializes in patching the tyre from the inside.

 

They apply a patch on the inside of the tyre and use heat and pressure to melt the patch in place.

 

I used to do that with my CBR1000RR tyres... its safe enough for hard track riding too. I know coz I have done that not once but a few times.

Yes he is open on Saturdays, 11 AM to 7 PM. His shop is directly opposite LAB workshop in Kallang Industrial Park.

 

I just called him on the phone... its $25 for the whole thing. Labour charge for dismounting and remounting the tyre and the patch repair. Should be about an hour or so.

 

After that... you can race around PG with peace of mind knowing that there is no "worm" to rip off in the corners.

Patches or plugs are only meant as a temporary solution until you get a new set of tyres, which you should as soon as you can.

is e worm thing really not safe for long term? I got a puncture on my tubeless tire and i saw 2 blades in the tire.. I got the worm thing to patch DIY myself tml.. e tire is only 2 month old
