I rode to work this morning without pushing in my cashcard properly

(got slide in, but didn't push in hard enough. )

 

I already read the LTA website which says will send me letter & I will need to pay $10 admin-charge + $ERP...

 

My question is this, I rode pass 2 ERP gantries on the PIE on my way to work.

Will I get 2 times the fine ?

i.e. (2 x $10) + $ERP ?

Sorry but pardon me for asking, didn't you realise that you didn't push in your cashcard the 2nd time when you passed the 1st gantry? I mean the first beep would have told you that no card was inserted.

on the move cannot . even go through erp also cant hear the beep

nope, i can't actually hear the beep, especially over the engine noise.

I have to look down and see if unit lights up.

 

Still new rider (my 2nd week owning a phantom), so i was focusing very hard on navigating the heavy traffic. Didn't look down.

I only notice that my unit didn't light up after i passed the second gantry.

 

Later I checked then realised, oh no.... my cashcard didn't slide in fully....

If you have subscribe to Easi-ERP (Singtel Mobile), the admin charge is S$4 instead of the $10.

 

Well I guess you can take this as a lesson learnt, I think you will have to pay 2x fine coz 2x cross gantry.

 

Don't worry not even a serious offense. Just remember to pay on time & forget about it. If dun pay on time, it will sky ball till dunno how much.

Don't think i ever inserted a cashcard while i was moving on a bike... unless driving, otherwise i think it is very hard to insert your cashcard while moving don't you think?

 

Next time must check before moving off...

Lesson learnt. Check & double check.. it's not worth paying fines just because of this... Ride safe guys! CNY is ard the corner yea? GONG XI FA CAI!!! :thumbs:

if it's ur 1st time, and a newbie, probably u can get away by appealing to LTA @ sin ming.

 

just write an appeal letter as u explained above in the thread. jus dun BS...

only that $10 fine which was b4 discount if pay thru AXS or internet banking

why cant make it like credit card or bill statement.. end of the month bill come.. just go the bloody axs machine to pay your total erp/parking fees thru it that scanned thru ur iu.. isin't tat much simpler..

motopay not suitable for me too.. cos i also rarely pass by erp.. that's why i dont know of the erp time.. cos i ride mostly noon-night time.. non-town area.. that's why..

I don't think word "victim" is suitable as the ERP system didn't wrongly charge you for the offence. As you mentioned, you didn't slot in the card properly. So the system work as it is supposed to. But come to think of it, there is a rubber stopper which supposed to help slot the card in fully when you close the cap.

 

Anyway, just appeal will do. I had appealed countless time and they will waived off the adminstration charge. If you want to confirm the number of times you crossed the gantry with no cashcard, just give LTA a call at 1800-CALLLTA. The CSO will glady tell you.

what i do even riding after ERP timings is to jus stick the card in and look to see how much value left and then leave the cover open to "remind" me to take it out when i get to the destination.

 

i leave it there in case i ever decide to park in places needing erp parking etc... juz to be safe...

 

but i wonder what would happen if all the road users decide to one day "refuse" to put in their cards and just drive and drive...

 

then would the system get so overloaded with no payers it would crash?

 

coz imagine the cost of manhours and printing and posting to send out all the letters etc...

 

would definitely send a message to the people who imposed the ERP system that we know it's there... but we don't wanna pay!!! hahaha

Speaking of the rubber stopper thing, twice I miscue and insert the cashcard above the slot/ above the rubber stopper.

In the end, the whole cashcard fell deep into the IU. Had to use a tweezer and a lot of cursing to get it out.

fast job man.. their letters are a simple template.. our number plates with IU number attached, home address, all in a database. if, as you said, all decide not to pay, they will be happier. dun think their system will crash, maybe only a few lucky ones decide to escape the fine..

aiyah, if u have e problem of always forgetting to insert cashcard or cannot remb e timing, n if u happened to have a singtel line, plus ur e owner of e vehicle, den juz subscribe to e singtel thingy lah...

 

juz $1 subscription fee nia...

after that, if u tio fine, its $4 admin charges instead of e $10...

speaking of ERP.. last Friday, i remember pass thru 4 gantries - 2 in the morning (AYE + Anson Rd), 1 around noon (Anson Rd) and 1 evening (Rochor Rd)... but only 50cents is deducted from my cashcard... dunno which is wrong, the cardcard or the IU...
