Guys... my current setting for my bike is 30mm carb and 140 main jet based on what the mechanic told me. FC is 28-30km/l before reserve. Spocket size is stock.... thanks to Chris for helping me check. Using NGK racing spark plug. Top end is excellent with a top speed is 150km/hr.

I would like to know what mods I can do to make the bike have better acceleration besides changing spocket size or carb. If die die must change spocket, what sizes and ratio is recommended. Will the top speed of 150km/hr be vastly affected?

Feel pai say to say this.... reason why I asked was cos I was just smoked by a gal on SP at orchard rd and she keep looking back to see if I am able to keep up. Sianz......

Hey Aprilians!

About two months ago, I bought a brand new Aprilia RS 125 (FZ Plate).

Today I just got confirmation from my company that I will be moving to the US in about two-three months time!

I don't know whether to be happy or sad... :faint:

Sad because I paid a lot of $$$ for a brand new RS 125.

Now I have to sell it.

Before I go ahead with the sale though, can someone point me to an article/reference on "How to sell your motorcycle"

I am looking for legality related stuff - How to transfer ownership etc.

I'll be posting the "For Sale" Ad for my bike (barely over 2000 kms) in just about a few days.... so in case anyones interested in a spanking brand new RS125 ... going for a good bargain... watch this space in the next 2-3 days :)

Well, Vivek, the most obvious place to look is the government's OneMotoring website - in particular the ownership transfer section. SingaporeBikes is really not the place to look if you're interested in any kind of structured information, especially if it's legal in nature.

Please refer to the government's official modification guide to find out what mods are or aren't legal. Legal mods include high-flow airfilters, carburetion adjustments and sprocket gearing. Non-legal mods should merely be discussed theoretically without reference to your bike.

Stock gearing is 17 teeth on the front sprocket, 40 teeth on the back. If you want better acceleration in town, go 1 tooth down on the front (the front sprocket's much easier to change), which is equivalent to 3 teeth up on the back. You'll end up with 16/40, which is the equivalent of 17/43.

My personal experience is that I lose 10km/h off top speed for each tooth I increase on the rear sprocket.

As most of you know, I've been obsessing about spark plugs lately, and I find it noteworthy that those of us using NGK racing spark plugs are using non-resistor models (eg, Edwin uses B95EGV). Resistor spark plugs prevent radio frequency interference (RFI), and although this affects EFI engines most, our CDIs are probably also vulnerable to disruption. Maybe this is why Aprilia officially recommends resistor spark plugs (BR*** - the "R" denotes resistor models) in both the owner and workshop manuals.

I believe NGK's racing model with resistor is BR*EG (standard model is BR*ES), and I'll probably be getting myself one to try, if I don't itchy backside and go for iridium instead.

br**g den wats the number? if im not wrong there is 7,8n 9 rite?

I'd say go for the commonly used "9" plugs - NGK BR9ES or BR9EG. In fact, I'm curious if there any RS125s here that are not using "9" plugs, besides Edwin, whose current plug is rated "9.5" (B95EGV). Our service and workshop manuals seems to recommend "8" plugs for bikes with environmental restrictions (no one's been able to confirm authoritatively and conclusively if Singapore RS125s fall into this category) and "10" plugs for so-called "full-power" bikes, which I can only assume means those without any environmental restrictions. Higher number means colder, lower means hotter.

Hey bros,

Firstly i'm hoping the petrol thing is on.. I waiting till 6pm before going to pump.. tank going to finish oredi.. :cheeky:

Last night i had a chance to try Benquin's bike.. Oh crap, it was power!! With my very limited knowledge of bikes and engine, i decided that his bike was an excellent buy.. There did not seem to haf any obvious defects or anything at all wrong with the bike.. The engine felt great, pickup was excellent..

Haiz, my baby pales in comparison to Benquin's Vergilo.. Good buy bro.. pls ride safe ok!! :thumb: :thumb:

ANY FOOL CAN HOLD A TIGER BY THE BALLS, BUT IT TAKES A HERO TO KEEP ON SQUEEZING. And I am that f*cking hero...

That's great to hear! After seeing that other bike Benguin looked at and also liked, I was getting worried. If I do end up meeting Samuel and Benguin tonight, I'll get to take a look firsthand.

It was a surprisingly large last-minute gathering just now - easily over 10 of us. Khairul even turned up in uniform, tie and all, before rushing off to work. It was great to see everyone. It also gave me a chance to talk with Derrick about spark plugs and spark cables. He seems to have had good results with Splitfire cables and plugs on his SP, and now runs NGK racing cables and plugs on his RS250. Oh yah, and now I finally know where Yew Tee is :D Thank goodness for streetdirectory.com.sg, heheh.

Just to clarify, its NOT 'Mah Motor'.

The actual shop name is Mah Pte Ltd. 'Mah Motor' is not recognised to be the same shop as Mah Pte Ltd, the large 3-storey complex along Upp Serangoon Road with a dazzling array of bikes on display.

do u have to do this? ok maybe.... *grumbLeZ*
