hey hope this is the right place to ask, i'm a relatively new female aprilia rider since feb and know pretty much very little about bikes, ofcourse i need to pick up things fast. My bike is a second hand about 6 yrs.

Recently i'v heard these noises every time i clutch in and hold it and free wheel. It sounds like somethings loose and someone mentioned that theres a piece of rubber in the gear plates and it's probably worn out AND for an aprilia rs125 its gonna cost me hundreds of dollars, is thattrue. i know its not the cheapest bike to maintain. need some advice and maybe some rough price quotes. It's relaly sh*t being female riding plus i'm afriad i'm being ripped off cuz i'm half 'ang mo'...hmm help???

cheers

This is a good place to post general problems. For more specific technical issues, the Aprilia Riders Club Forum linked to in eyz's signature and mine is more efficient. We use it for technical questions we don't want to get swallowed by this thread.

Your best bet is to meet up with a group of us and let us go over your bike. We have fairly varied schedules so someone should be free when you are. I'm actually free right now but I doubt you'll reply in time to meet up before I meet my woman at 6pm. She'll be happy to hear that there's a new female Aprilian on the road.

Who told you you'd have to spend hundred of dollars to fix your problem? Clutch parts do wear out and if the previous owner of your bike didn't maintain it properly it's quite possible you'll have to change something. It's impossible to say without hearing the sound myself though. Whatever the case, try not to go down to a workshop without bringing along someone the workshop already knows and doesn't want to rip off.

Some of us have managed to find mechanics that do a passable job and don't rip people off. Others (including yours truly) prefer to DIY, for a long list of reasons.

But i know nuts about aprilian's technical stuff what.. must have u guys around ma so she wun get chopped.. aprilia's stuff cheaper than mito's lor

Erial, you know how to get to FM? if you do, you could always drop by around lunch time, or after work (around 6) and I could introduce you to this awesome cute mech I know. He's going to be busy from mid of july onwards, so I can also introduce you to this other, busier mech (basically he does almost everyone's bikes here). Don't worry, you're in (their) good hands :lovestruck:

Workshop addresses, phone numbers, etc

FM is short for First Motor.

or in short, there are two ways to get there.

1) CTE -> PIE -> 2nd exit (paya lebar) take the left lane -> keep going until see the yamaha building -> turn right and keep going till you see the traffic light -> turn right and first entrance on your left, the first shop is FM

2) CTE -> exit AMK ave 1 -> exit first left (boundary road) -> follow through with the road all the way until you see the yamaha building then turn left, go straight til you see TPHQ on your right, turn right, first left entrance the first shop is FM liao

kinda long winded but that's how i remember it la

Dannis : After doing so much mods, maybe you can advise those performance enhanced freaks on some basic minot tunings that can be done on a stock bike to make a better ride. Im sure throughout your mod testings, you may have found out what works for your bike and what does not. Do share it with us cos Im sure it would help those interested in a guided path and not let them burn a hole in their pockets for nothing.

What I realise is that :

1) Dont mod - risk get caught by Govermnent ppl, waste $$$

2) Dont try to Mod - modification comes in a series like a set. U mod one part, u got to mod the 2nd to balance the first n goes on for the 3rd, 4th.........endless.

3) Use the better 2T like Motul 710 or Castrol A747.

4) If u really want to mod, change to a Vertax piston.

5) If u still want to mod, port your stock 28mm carb or change to a 34mm carb. A good tuning will give u better milage per litre.

6) If u still not happy, change your exhaust to Arrow n re-jet the carb at the same time.

7) If still not happy, change the plug coil to Spitfire or even NGK.

8) If still not enough, change to Carbon Tech reed valve.

9) If still not enough, change to a race CDI - That will be the most efective way.

10) If still not happy, sell ur RS125 n buy an RS250 n start the basic mods again......

a) My advice, dont waste $$ to mod. Play with sprockets will do. Stock bikes use 17x38 for top speed of about 185km/h at 12k rpm 6th gear, 17x39 for pick-up n some top of about 175km/h at 6th gear 12k rpm.

b) Get your carb properly tuned. Mechs mostly need to tune your bike at least 2-3 times b4 getting the jetting right. After tuning, remember the bike performance at different rpm esp from 5-11k rpm. U must be able to tell the mech what is the power n behaviour of the bike so that he can better tune it for u.

c) The mods that I suggest, try it at your own risk. Just dont blame me if anything should go wrong. Just remember that modification is an endless spending...... do it at your own risk. Original is good enough.

Wait till I achieve my objective.... I will be back with a more powerful engine and a more sexy bike......

If u really want to save $$, buy a Kup Kia or a CBR150.... will save u a lot of $$$ for sure compared to an Aprilia.

^^^im totally agreed wit dannis...

tats why im saying my bike is standard..

NO such mods has been done coz...

more u mods. ur bike..

ur bike will gains less power eventually..

mayb at 1st..ur bike ran fast...

but..a few month later..such prob. will appear..

here in M'sia we called it "Penyakit Misteri"..

No solution..& wasting ur pocket $$$ to re-do it back...

but still..No solution...

im telling u guys this coz..im been owned an RS125 since 97 until now..

Servo:there's 2 type of CDI serial no..

1-070000-##-##### = Non Restricted.

2-071000-##-##### = Restricted

mine of course is the no.1

the differ for no.1 & 2 is..

No.1-there no restriction wit ur RPM and valve port opening..

just like riding a RX-Z..

1st.gear to 6th.gear NO JERKING..

No.2-Needs to rev ur RPM to get the valve port open...usually at 7000@8000 RPM

Muser:i mean my valve already open b4 it reach RPM7000..

sorry to make u confused..:sorry:

:offtopic:p/s:Muser:of coz..after have been so long using the bike..surely i have my own "secret recipe" & some "TOYOL" in my bike...:faint:

and all the bike prob. & symptom is in my pocket..
