Hey Lawrence/ RS125 riders,

Quick question - without trying to sound like some power hungry teenager with a death wish!

The power on my 08 RS125 is quite good up to about 125km/h. After that, it sort of just sits there and the max speed is about 130km/h to 135km/h. Is this normal? Or my bike settings are just wrong?

I understand that the 06 model is substantially more powerful, but i am getting a bit frustrated with the power (or lack of) on my bike.

Also, anybody knows where i can go for proper derestricting? I know Mah does it by snapping the CDI restriction board (like Wawan's bike). But i was thinking more along the lines of installing the proper conversion kit.

Understand that a new power valve, 34mm carb, and exhaust will be needed (as there is a catalytic converter in the stock exhaust).

Has anybody done this before? If yes, is it worth doing? Been reading up and researching and the benefits seem pretty substantial. Would definitely appreciate the thoughts of more experienced owners on this!

Thanks much!

Edmund

full derestriction is more than adding 34 , rave unit and exhuast... u need to drill ur CDI and cable tied a hose and change air box intake snorkel

Hey Macan/Xxes,

Thanks for the advice.

Macan - Would be great to meet you and tap your experience with the bike, even if nothing can be done. I stay just across the road from ASPhoon on Changi road, let me know whenever u are free and we can probably have a quick meet up (about 9pm or so on weeknights would be great). After chatting about our bikes, we can probably head across the road for teh or something (on me of course!)

All the other riders are welcomed too!

Was back in Msia over the weekend and went to Moto Milia. Spoke to quite a friendly guy there and he said the RS 125 is quite versatile and a lot can be done to improve performance. But he also mentioned that LTA approvals could be an issue. Anybody knows if the service and price at Moto Millia is any good?

Cheers,

Edmund

Hi everyone! Just wondering about Aprilia's maintenance..Cause i heard from other people that the Aprilia RS125 require more frequent maintenance compared to bikes like the Kips and SP?

Is that true? And if it is.. is it hard to find the parts for Aprilia? And how expensive is each maintenance? :slapforehead:

Posted

and btw... may i know how new is new for the new Aprilia RS125? what year? and if i were to buy an older Aprilia bike (budget constraints) which model is a more reliable one?

Roughly how much will the bike cost me? 1st and 2nd hand?

sorry... im a total newbie at this:weep:

Not power hungry la.... AM more concerned that the bike is not maintained properly or there is damage to the parts etc. Better to find out sooner rather than later!

Also want to increase the speed a bit cos am keen to do more riding at PG. And my exit speeds are quite bad (probably due to lack of skills as well).

My friend's camera. He was showing me the lines to take on PG etc.

How frequent you want, is your preference. How expensive it is depends on the rider.. I am lousy (falling, minor accidents, improper riding, etc) and so i've spent over $1K over the span of hmmm 5months. But I know other long-time aprilia riders here spend like probably $50-$100 a month or every 2 months.

But basic gear oil change, spark plug change, I find, it's the same as any 2 stroke bikes...

the new one is 07 i think which is about $14K first hand.. The older one, second hand, 03-05 models maybe $5K or less? 06 above about $7K thereabouts? Correct me if i'm wrong, or search and start asking around..

Weda is one of them located at 18 Rowell Road. Parts which part you want? 1st hand block is about $900, valve is $200, rotax piston is $220, rearsets is $75, signal light original is $40, clucth lever original is $80.. these are the items that i've bought before or have enquired before. All prices are based on first hand. For second hand, can ask around... Some old-time Aprilia riders have parts kept for desperate riders like me in times of need.

For more defined questions and enquiries can give Khai aka macan_putih a call at 91455310. Hope this ease your worries.

Brand new $4,500. 06 still available at most shops.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

wah! $4500?? Since when the price has dropped? Lol.. Anyway, just asking for knowledge sake. yet again. hehe... can a 1995 model of aprilia can ever be done in a better condition than the new ones? for example, the engine is as good as new. or does overhauling actually make other parts of the bike worse? correct me if i'm wrong. it was recommended to rebuilt the bike after 30,000km mileage from other international forums. what's the difference between rebuilding and overhauling?

last question is, comparing a brand new one costing $14.5k, will an older version aprilia bike, 1995 model big-bored to 170cc, can be done up to be in race-ready conditon? cos i intend to try my riding skills on a proper track than on sg roads so must ensure that the bike won't break down easily after every exhaustive day on track.

or is it recommended to just scrap the bike and just get a newer bike?
