Lawrence,

Great coincidence. I happen to be on leave on Tuesday,17th and am keen to consider joining you.

However, I have to be back in Singapore by 1pm, which means i have to leave latest by 11.30am. If we can make the early session, I'll be there.

I think there are different schedules on weekdays (eg. bikes and cars rotate hourly, as opposed to to morning/arvo split). Anybody know the schedule?

Macan - hope your dad is doing well.

hey guys, im a new aprilia owner and im just alittle curious about the spares prices m*h is offering for the 06-08 rs125. bought some stuff online from UK and it seems like the price is worlds apart. anyone else seem to find it lidat? m*h stuff seem to be like 20 - 50% more expensive.....

Typically, local dealers need to levy a tax on the parts they import to cover overheads.

"But overseas dealers also have to pay for overheads and shipping, yet they can afford to charge so much less! Why do parts cost less from overseas (including shipping) than if I buy from local dealers (who save costs on bulk shipping)?"

Because local dealers are your typical Singaporean (and usually Chinese) businessmen who are only interested in one thing - increasing profits.

Ask any dealer why prices have gone up, and the typical answer is, "Japanese yen has gone up. Hence Japanese parts are more expensive."

Yet, if you ask the same dealer, "But what about Italian parts? They are from Europe, and the Euro is falling like a brick!"

And your favourite local dealer will explain to you that "Euro falling means local prices for Italian parts are going up."

Their circular logic is undefeatable, and in the end, you will still end up paying more for parts.

Just a comparison, our RS125 powervalves used to cost S$140 each. They now cost S$260 in Singapore. But the prices in Europe hasn't changed. Factor in a falling Euro dollar, and logically, the local price should be lower than before. But on the contrary, it has risen. How can this be? And why is this allowed to happen?

They are the monopoly and they know it. Since they are the only ones bringing the stuff in, they control the prices, and all of us are at their mercy.

That is why I support parallel imports. If I'm going to be spending more on parts, I'd rather hand over my hard-earned money to someone I know, than a profit-hungry, money-grubbing, fat-faced businessman.

Hello, first time posting here. Still taking my 2b license so decided to come and scout for potential 2b sport bikes. Since i am rather bigger in size, 80+kg and 175+cm i plan to get a bigger bike and also plan to skip a 2a bike and get a r6 once i get class 2.

Statistically, 10 out of 10 new Aprilia owners know that maintenance will be high, but 9 out of 10 will choose to overlook that fact, and delude themselves that they will be able to afford the upkeep.

Also, the 30 horses claimed by manufacturers are hardly enough to haul the bike's own weight, let alone ours. Most of the time, a few of those horses escape through poor tuning, and lack of maintenance, again due to lack of spending power.

If you are willing to throw good money after bad, and keep doing it foolishly for long enough, you just might end up with a kickass ride. Sadly, most fairy tales don't end that way. Most Aprilias are lemons, even the new ones.

So if you're beginning to realise that the money you've set aside to buy a bike does not include a few G's to cover monthly maintenance, then a Bajaj Pulsar or Hyosung might be more suitable for you.

Cheers!

Hey Bro,

No la. Not super onz. Have been very lazy to cycle these few days. So play motorbike as it gives the same level of satisfaction less the physical tiredness...

Given my extremely short attention span, seriously wonder how long can i be "onz" for? :). Dont be surprised if you see my bike and kit up for sale soon =P

When you going to PG next? Definitely need to go together again la. Only downside of motorbiking is that we cant have beers after a session!

Just called the circuit office. It's open tomorrow. 1030-1230hrs. Will be quite empty because its a weekday.

Lets meet at GP Esso at 0930hrs. Blastedgal is coming along, so let's head over at a gentle pace.

If you guys wanna cycle, how bout next week Coastal Road 2 laps, followed by an ice cold beer?
