i wish i had a workshop... and an engineering brain.. but alas mine is IT based brain. hehe. i'l summarize for the guyss..

we all have experienced sh*t b4. dats y we sent it to the mechanix whoever they r. but some of us take the trouble to actually ask wat was being done so dat we understand da procedures n type of work done. of cos da major repair work we wont do cos we not dat technically knowledgeable but in theory we know wats goin on. dats y we can safely tell others the possible solutions to da various problems encountered. dat y i say most aprilians are dedicated riders. they love da ride n dey love da bike.

im not saying it has been smooth sailin for all of us. but when we get it right after a few trials n errors, look at the result.... simply priceless. there alot of info on tuning n engine matters on da net. its just a click away from reading. but its a touch ur heart an ask urself thing. whether u wana read it or not no one will force u.

ok... im wana start a mass order on ferodo n braking pads. both sinttered. cost is similar.

ferodo

1)

2)

3)

braking

1)

2)

3)

i wud like u guys to try other brands but dp pads and ebc is a little on da expensive side. they are high end which requires hard usage in order to appreciate them. but i gues we'll start slow by way of budget. then slowly we'l use other expensive brands and later n compare.

Hi guys,

Just got my first bike, aprilia 125 ofcourse, a week back.

Hoping to learn a lot more from this forum and meet some of the aprilia fans.

Just facing some newbie problems.. thought you guys will know.

First of all, is the knob pointing 'Up'; petrol in Reserve or in Open. I bought the bike and I was told that Up is for reserve and Right is for Open. I was riding all the way with the knob pointing towards right and the bike stops midway this thursday. So I tried changin the knob towarsd up, nothing happened... so I pushed it to a petrol bunk, filled her up and it was up and running. So I decided to check on the web and saw that 'Up' is actually 'pertrol open'.

Then until yesterday night I was riding with the knob 'UP' and it stops midway on ECP, and it is scary when u stop midway on a highway in your first week. So while freaking out, I change the direction of the knob to right (reserve) but takes me atleast 1 min to start the engine again (is that normal when it goes to reserve?)... but after that the bike keeps stopping and I have to keep restarting all the way. I found a petrol station and filled her up again but it keeps stopping and takes me like a min to start again every single time.

Can I ask what the problem might be? and finally know for sure whether knob up is open or reserve? Thanks guys and hope someone reads this long post..

hey invincible!

a warm welcome to join the ARrrPppeeeLAaaa family!!

haha

do join us in the coming gather and we can exchange pointers with each other on our beloved bikes.

i guess you're riding the replica version of Aprilia, right?

the knob is on the right hand side, hidden underneath the fuel tank, right?

if that's the case, if the lever is pointing in front, it is turned off. lever pointing down, it means fuel is on and if the lever pointing backward, it would means that you're switching to reserve..

it is normal for RS to have difficulty to start up when your bike runs out of fuel and you start it up stationery. You just turn your fuel on and leave it there for around 5 mins. And you should have no problem starting it back. But first, you need to familiarise where to switch for on, off and reserve.

Hey ezy,

thanks for the welcome man... looking forward to the gathering

I don't know if it is the replica version, but it is FT plate and it is y2k.

The knob is below the left side of the tank. The only options are Front, Up and Backwarsd. I understand Front is defn close.. it is between Up and Backwards that I am confused about.

And, the problem is that the engine stops while I am riding in the middle of a highway or when I stop for a signal and then takes a min to start again. So I presume that cannot be just a engine warming up problem.... help help!! thankz

oh y2k version..

The pic below should solve your query.

Come come, show us the pic of your bike!!!

Coincidentally, I saw the exact same picture on the web, so I assume that must be it...

But still dunno why the bike keeps stopping, let me take it out today and see if it happens again... Could it be because I used the 5000 quality pertrol by mistake, the first time, instead of the always used 8000?

It is raelly frustrating and stressful for the bike to stop in the middle of highways and signals especially on your first week...

neways I just have one pic of my bike... havn't gotten to taking others yet...

I've that problem with my mito too. Turned out the fuel filter was choked, maybe you might want to have that checked out. What it does is slow down the flow of petrol to the carb to a trickle, which explains why when you leave it for a minute it starts up again, but dies after a few hundred meters of riding. You can even check it yourself by disconnecting the fuel hose from the carb, then turning the fuel cork to ON to check how strong the flow of petrol is.

Could be due to a rusty tank or bad paintjob in the past (paint flakes choking up the filter). I get my bike shop to clear out the filter every 2-3 months, or else it pops up again. Hope this information helps!

hey guys,

the problem just got bigger... now the bike is not even starting...

the reason: when I OPEN the petrol it just keeps flowing out through this small pipe as pointed in the picture below... I thought mebbe it was because of the carb overflow... but it keeps flowing out of the tiny pipe forever...

Is there supposed to be a tube connecting to the 2 circled pipes? if yes where can I get the pipe? if no... what could be the problem?

thanks!!

Sorry correction... I meant where can I get the 'tube'?

Below is the picture of the petrol actually flowing out for a graphic demonstration of the situation...

i think your carb's float is either dirty or faulty. happened to my old KTM last time . depending on the model / brand of the crab, price for repair ranges from $5 to 50. mine was a delloroto . 45 bucks for a float change

if arrows for rs125 were really passed, news for u is dat u can only use da ones sold by biketech n not those that r found easily in da market. all of them bear serial numbers just like da yoshis dat motoworld brings in.

there r no streetlegal pipes for rs250 as it was never meant to be so. rs250 in other countries were all track destined bikes. dats y. call biketech and check them out. we've done our part. now its about how much people want it to happen.
