subzero , as stated in his tread lor , $391 inclusive of valve , valve steam + gear oil + wash carb + labour got receipt. he spent 1.5k on valve? sure anot.

can someone please enlighten our brother here on a these things:

1)How much A BRAND NEW full valve system cost?

2)How much A BRAND NEW 34mm CARB Cost?

3)How much a change of BRAND NEW FULL CLUTCH KIT( Plastic plates,Steel Plates,Clutch cable, clutch spring and pressure plate etc) Costs?

This person has bringing up his qualms over my pricing and had thus spoilt my sales thread. He's not even intending to purchase my bike in the first place, yet making a ruckus over these things.

A few brothers here who have attempted or derestrict their newer 125s, can you please list down the total costs and procedures you took to do this?

i personally feel that its my choice and decision on how much i want things to reflect on my thread. Prices that i reflect on my thread are based on prices i have received from various shops/internet shops on a earlier date.

1)How much A BRAND NEW full valve system cost?

Valve - $280

Valve cable - $18

Solenoid - Ask WEDA

CDI - Ask WEDA

For the Full RAVE set that includes everything above, check with Mah Pte Ltd for installation.

2)How much A BRAND NEW 34mm CARB Cost?

$460 brand new. 2nd hand 34mm carbs are cheap, usually sold for $150-200. Edwin, please correct me if I am wrong.

3)How much a change of BRAND NEW FULL CLUTCH KIT( Plastic plates,Steel Plates,Clutch cable, clutch spring and pressure plate etc) Costs?

Clutch plates (6 pieces) - $165

Steel plates (6 pieces) - $110

Pressure plate (1 piece) - $80 Ask WEDA

Clutch Cable (1 piece) - $24

Clutch Spring (1 piece) - $30 Ask WEDA

Labour - I never have to pay for labour charges, but I'm guessing $80+

Should be $500 thereabouts. Don't be lazy, do your own homework and ask WEDA. The prices I have given above are from about 3 years ago. WEDA is famous for using the "inflation" excuse to hike up prices 20-30% every few months so by now, might cost a little more.

Derestricting the 07/08 bike involves installing a couple of things:

1) Valve motor

2) Valve

3) Cables etc

4) "Modification" of CDI (has to be done @ Mah Motor)

5) Removal of the cat silencer in the exhaust by replacing the full exhaust system

6) 34 mm carb (if so desired)

This is what i have done anyway. In total, i spend about $1,500 or $1,600. Cant remember exactly. Everything was new except the valve motor and the 34mm carb (got it from the infamous Aprilia Forum Edwin). Some say my total expenditure was expensive. Some say its cheap. I really just dont give a f*^k. Too hard to argue on any internet forums as the person with the most time and nothing to do will win.

Wouldnt recommend it. But for the power hungry, be prepared to splurge on a couple of trips to First Motor cos the bike does go wonky (tuning tuning tuning!) and some work needs to be done before it was running trouble free again.

Isnt your bike already derestricted?

Alfian - feel free to call me to pick up your stuff. Its still sitting in my living room. Or we can meet up in PG on the next track day in May!!

Yup, cost should really be no object when purchasing an Aprilia. If you have to worry about cost, you obviously cannot afford this bike, and this bike is not for you.

Yeah, when it goes wonky in SG, you'll be practicing your French.

But if it goes kuku in Malaysia, you'd be cursing at the gods all the way home.

Hi Cheng,

This bike is not for you. Do consider getting another bike.

Happy shopping.

Lawrence

Chung,

In my opinion, the RS125 isnt a beginer's bike. But then again, desire, like all emotional feeling tends to drive people (such as me).

A few observations from my limited experience on the bike (~ 8 months)

1) It is expensive

2) Insurance is very expensive

3) Servicing and maintenance is expensive

4) This baby has to be rev'd hard and the sweet spot band is very small. Dont think its a good choice for those starting out. Am still struggling with it most of the time.

5) Not suitable for tall-ish people >180cm (have received more than a few comments on how small the bike looks when i am riding it)

Word of advice. Getting a loan is a serious commitment. I dont think a lot of people understand the implications of this. So have a good think about it. I find that people in Singapore tend to overleverage on "consumption" goods.

Actually, I will be practicing my Hokkien and Mandarin. Struggle sometimes to explain to the mech what is wrong!

Yes - agreed that a breakdown in Msia isnt pleasant. Remember that day when i had to turn back to Spore after we arrived at Esso cos I was running too lean? That was very frustrating, particularly riding on the NS highway at 60km/h

Oh ya - also forgot the mention that fairings are fragile and expensive. Breaking your fairings is like tearing up 4 hundred dollar notes. LOL

3-5k downpayment is what my friend suggested. i also dunno why he wanted to me to tie 5 years! i told him my budget is 6-7k and wanted to take 2 years instal only. but thats what he told me. erm, bro, ur defination of starting out means?

It is not so call power loss. If you are at 6 gear, it is the time when valve is opening. When valve is opening, back pressure loss. This is due to how you ride a RS125.

This is the begining of a 2-stroke power band at 8X00rpm. You need to use lower gear to shot till 9x000~11000rpm where u are getting the best part of the engine.

But if so then why the price diff?

Both manufactured by the same factory, so the expansion chamber and stinger design are EXACTLY the same.

Price difference is due to marketing and branding.

Manufacturing costs of Louis Vuitton and Gucci are not much different, yet prices are wildly different.

And if i bring Jim Lomas Stainless Steel full system into Sg will it pass LTA?

Not without homologation certification.

Don't thank me. I'm not helping you, nor am I on anybody's side. I am only on MY OWN SIDE. I'm being objective in my post. If it doesn't help anyone get a clearer perspective, too bad.

weeeeeeeeeeeee!!! freaking cant sleep!

You should try melatonin pills. They're natural, non-addictive, and helps you to sleep better. I use them to adjust to constant time zone differences.
