Haha no thanks lawrence. If need be , I'd rather be hooked up to the ipod.

For better sound insulation, do use in-ear buds, so that you can keep the sound level down. For normal earphones, you'll need to turn up the playback volume to drown out wind blast and engine noise. It'll damage your hearing in the long run.

Oh ya , just to clear things up , decarb exhaust is not the same as packing it right?

Decarbonising is the removal of the built-up carbon inside the expansion chamber of the exhaust. Repacking of the end can is just removal of the old muffler gauze and installing a fresh piece. Looks like a flat sheet of cotton wool.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

Does Varta offer any warranty on the Optimax AGM MF (Absorbent Glass Mat separator)?

I will not support China made products on principle, unless the products can be proven to have some QC standards upheld, and one of those indications is warranty coverage.

Poorly constructed products usually do not have warranty as the manufacturers know that their products are sh|t.

Err, we are only a distributor, not the manufacturer ie. Varta. But we do give a 1 mth warranty for m/c batteries against manufacturer's defect. Be it Varta or Optimax, its still 1mth warranty. Anyway, for you guys, I will personally prepare the batteries before you guys collect.:thumb:

Hi Tknge , I think you're quite good with our bikes.

Any idea how to make the bike very quiet and smooth? not so interested in power at this point of time.

Beside what Lac had given you. Things to add are :

1. When re-packing your endcan with the fiber, request not to pack too tight, the sound of the exhaust will be mellow but soak oil fast. Need to change more frequent. ( slight loss in power due to disturbance of exhaust airflow)

2. Use heat-wrap to wrap-up the expanding chamber will dim down the sound a bit too.( expensive to do )

Gd luck.:)

Oi! Tsk...

hahahahahaha.... turn key to left.

Seriously, Jamie, earplugs are recommended to safeguard against wind blast and engine noise. I have a lot at home. If you need, can pass to you about 10 pairs.

ROFL!!

Bro, when is the next DIY Monday session? I've a small issue I wanna discuss on how to rectify. Plus my exaust header is really rusty. Need your supervision on removing the exaust in case I missed out something.

Hi all,

Anyone wish to change new Front & Rear sprocket to Renthal? The rear sprocket will be Alu Alloy in standard 520 size. If can gather some quantity, the price will be about F $30 & R $60 only. A lot cheaper than local price. Before & after 06 model also have. Just show you interest, Teeth type & quantity and I will c how to proceed.:)

I ordered from Ultimate parts - took about 2 weeks. Have you paid? Try calling them, i spoke to a lady at Aprilia parts before and she also mentioned it took 10 to 14 days

Really?!

Going to check out the thread now... I probably shouldn't add any oil to the fire, should I?

Ok I shouldn't. [/Quote]

Good to see that you are behaving Lawrence...

One of these days, i will need to take up your DIY offers. Repair bills on my bike is costing me a bomb!! Turns out, the real problem with my bike is a really worn out drive shaft and primary gear shaft... think this one is going to be painful!! Maybe playing on the track wasnt that good an idea after all!!

How could your drive shaft & primary gear shaft worn out so fast?? How often you go track? Are you using correct gear oil for you bike? If not, it is impossible to wore out your drive shaft so fast. What mileage had the bike been travel? If you are referring to difficultive in shifting, that would be only your shift-fork had worn out. This is because our gears are very STRONG, only the shift-forks are make of cast Alu and it worn out fast. Pls check before changing.......

There was an occasion where i was leaking gear oil. The damaged occured when it was out of gear oil. Using correct gear oil, just that it was non-existent when if happened... Happy to hear your thoughts out, but when i looked at the drive and gear shaft, it was smooth.... Further thoughts?

Thanks tknge.

I think is about $6X~$7X, depend on brand.

Don't think it's that expensive . . . it should be within the range of around $4X to $6X, depending on brand . . . any other expensive brand maybe I miss out?

No pro.

What do you mean by "it was smooth"?? A damage gear showed sign of grinding mark on gear teeths or chip-off on gear or teeth broken which causing engagement issue. If the condition of all gears is ok, most likely is the shift-fork problem.
