DIY 6 May 2200hrs-0200hrs followed by supper

Venue: 21 Joo Seng Road S360021

Bring: tools, rags, solvents

You will work on your own bike. You will get your hands dirty. You will perspire profusely. You will learn to curse and swear like a man. You will get your skin cut and punctured. You will not be able to wash the industrial grease out for at least 3 days.

You will learn something called responsibility for your own bike.

Gen Y gu-niangs need not apply. Spoon-fed kids who expect the world to revolve around them need not apply. Strawberry egos need not apply. Those too lazy or stupid to learn how to utilize resources like map-reading need not apply.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

You mean you keep the same throttle open level and the rev just went crazy and the bike go wild for a while? Or just the RPM meter went crazy but the bike is normal? If is the RPM meter problem, maybe the battery got problem or some electronic system need to be checked. Or throttle cable jam?

First possibility - Yr are running rich, excess fuel killed your spark for that moment. Especially during hotter atmospheric condition.

Second possibility - Pre-ignition happening. Aprilia is running more than 11:1 comp ratio. Due to our fuel only 95 & 98 ron and you are running at low rpm, this will happen. Ignition timing will change when engine at different rpm range. Try not to use no. 6 gear cruise at low speed.

Thridly - Fuel is not supplying constantly to the engine. Clean yr carb.

Easy...

Try losing your job.. :)

Typically, the tools you need to have with you would be

1) 1 set of allen keys

2) 1 set of spanners (size 8-12, this is the region you want to play it safe)

3) Pliers (those small tips, iirc, ppl call it nose pin pliers)

4) + and - screwdrivers (best of have at least the length of your palm to the tip of your middle finger)

5) Tons of rag

6) Some small container to fill up with petrol to wash your power valve

7) Cleaning agent of your choice. Be it petrol, thinner, cooking oil & bar of soap (thank you so much for this damn neat tip lawrence! :D)

Most of these items can fit in the storage compartment of our bikes. So not much of a hassle to bring around.

Could also be the CDI suffered a massive stroke and sent a wrong signal to the ignition, causing the pre-detonation. If it's an old CDI, this means it is on the verge of a catastrophic failure. If it is a new CDI, then it could be a manufacturing defect. :D

This does not help. It is not factual nor based on logic.
