Its a 1yr old bike and im the second owner. Anw whats does the red ! sign mean? And any ideas why sometime my bike so hard to start?

i suggest you prioritize adding in full-synthetic 2T first thing before your bike's coughing worsen. You can get Agip 2T Speed for $20-$22. I personally use MOTUL710 or MOTUL800.

The problem of the unlit light lies beneath your tank. Open it and check out the fuse. There should be extra fuse in one of the slots..

Have you tried 'push start'? I just had fun few weeks ago helping a buddy push-start his bike as we run back and forth at Shell. Can be your battery or starter or idling.. Lets hope its not the battery or starter.

Ride safe..!

Hi Beann! Did you buy your shop from Leong H**g? haha, if you did, i nearly bought tt bike!

Anyway bros, i just got my aprilia too. RS125, coming 4 yrs old, 28k km. I'm a new rider and hv nvr owned a bike before.

I'm aware tt this italian beauty needs even more care then ur other bikes. Any tips on how to take care of the bike like maintenance, types of oil to use, and how? as well as good riding habits with regards to throttle management to protect the engine, valve, the whole bike in general, and to keep it in great performance shape?

Posted
anyone with a spare valve? mine just broke.

Pls PM lacrimosae. He sells the CNC machined valves for a good price. Original costs from 250 to 300.

Hello All,

I recently bought rs 125 2006 model and ive found lots of helpful information here.

I have a few questions and i hope someone can help!

1. I only have one set of keys and need to make a duplicate. Been to a few key duplication places but they all say they dont have this type of key and i should try somewhere else. Anybody has a contact?

2. I know sports bikes dont have large storage space but ive opened the rider's seat and there is practically nowhere to store anything and my passenger seat cant open. I cant even fit a raincoat in. Is that normal or have i missed something?

3. When i open the throttle with bike stationary, it seems to rev just fine but when i close throttle, it hovers around 3rpm for about 10 secs before dropping to 1.5rpm. Same thing when stopping, the revs maintain at 3+rpm before dropping to 1.5rpm. Is something wrong?

4. After how many km should i bring the bike for servicing? After reading the previous threads, ill try one of the places recommended. Are appointments needed for servicing or just walk in?

5. Should I top up the 2T regularly or wait for the warning indicator light to come on?

Many thanks in advance! :)

New Aprilia rider reporting! 08 model,

Looking to do a paint job but the shop told me not to remove the stock sticker at the front.

Any advise where to do the paint job?

Any potential problems?

When the winds resist my impetus and sights become passing shadows. Every other sound is voided, all but the undeniable roar of my engine.

My physical vision recepts naught, but my mind is tranquil.

Hey bro, we're in the same boat. 20YO P-plate and enlisted into the Army and just bought my Aprilia, just bought my RS125 insurance 3PT(NO F&T) is 1.6k. Not too sure if 3PTFT is necessary as I live in a private estate.

What if you parked in a public carpark, go watch a movie and come back to find all the bikes in the carpark razed due to arson or because another bike had fuel leaking and someone threw a cigarette stub? hmm.... o_O

In Singapore, the workshops and painters have no integrity, no honesty, and no pride in their work.

So you can expect them to NOT strip the original coat of paint before putting the new paintwork on.

This usually results in your fairings weighing almost 1-2kg heavier every time you send your fairing for spray painting. If you change your paintwork 3 times, you're adding about 4-5kg to your fairings. Yes, paints ARE heavy. Ever lifted a small tin of paint? Subtract the weight of the tin, and your still have a substantial mass of paint in net weight. That's for the base coat. You still have to factor in the UV-protection clear coat finish (also known as 'lacquer' to the uneducated). Just FYI, if you used real lacquer to finish the top coat, your paint work will discolor and crack within 3 months. The proper term of the final coat is the Clear Coat, which is like the paint applied, only that it is clear and colorless, and is usually of a high gloss finish after curing in the oven.

Also, be prepared to lose your (very expensive and rare, ie hard to find) original fairing screws because the workshops usually don't keep your screws in a secure location and they may lose some screws, which they will replace with some other cheap random screw they can find.

Understand where you are coming from, from the posting on the thread can tell that the Aprilians here are very experienced and most importantly devoted to the care of their bike. Which puts me in good position to learn alot about my bike. The bike is now sub-rided to my friend who holds a 3PTFT insurance, so I believe it will be in good hands. Collection is on Monday, so the bike is still in the hands of the shopowner.

Any SG shops that can do a proper job? Or should I keep the stock paintwork?

Only that that bothers me really is the original paintjob has lost it's glossy look.

My first bike, would appreciate sincere suggestions so I can keep my Aprilia in preferably tip-top condition.

You might want to confirm this with other riders. Insurance is not my forte, but from what I know, bike insurance coverage is bike specific. If your bike is just 3rd party insured, it will only be 3rd party insured.

Take care of your bike with the same effort it takes for you to care for your wife, girlfriend, lover, mistress, child, pet dog, COMBINED (all of the above combined, not just one of the above), and maybe you might reap the benefits of a bike that simply works and is absolute pure joy to ride.

Do try to maintain it, even though you are keeping the bike for only 1 year. Spare a thought for the next owner.

I will sell my bike and donate the proceeds to charity if you can find a shop that does that.

If you want the original coat stripped, you will have to do it yourself. The good old-fashioned way - with a lot of sandpaper, and a lot of elbow grease.

Yes, will do so. I might be keeping this bike for good so I would like to learn how to maintain it, just to keep my options open. Noticed the DIY sessions organized here, will definitely go down to learn the next session, if any.

As for the insurance I need to check with NTUC if mine is 3PTFT as well.

Need a mentor on the sand-papering.

Have a week off next month, hopefully a DIY session to be held.

To return your paintwork to its original shine, you might wanna check with shadantou or Subzero. They have some awesome solvents and techniques to hone the dull finish to a high gloss. They're the best in the business, and their prices are very reasonable. I'm planning to meet up with them some time to have them work my bike over to recover its original gleam.

As for sandpapering and applying a new coat, let that be the last resort.

I will be working on my bikes on the 15 Sep.

Will consider that as I'm not too pleased with the dullness of the paintjob now. Will not be free on weekdays, I'm planning to get a good bike cover to protect my bike from the sun as well as rain. Will any water-proof cover suffice?

Most rain covers ($5-20) only direct rain water away from the electrical wiring and electronics, the covers themselves are soaked and the areas in contact with the bike are wet.

I recommend the Oxford Rainex series sold at MotoWorld ($80) which is completely waterproof - your bike stays bone dry.

I am also getting ready to purchase these, once HDB approves me of using them for both my bikes in the HDB open air parking lots.
