i'll try see if i can drop by. nd to send my bike for inspection first. Btw im riding an 09 model, red white in colour stock paintwork. in case ur wondering whos the noob idiot who drops by later. haha.

btw i havent managed to read thru ALL the links u provided. I did got thru some of them though. Read through a few. Did some other readings on other sites on my own. I'll have to say first though. I do haf some basic knowledge about the workings of the carb but i dun haf any hands on experience ie i wouldnt noe whats to be done once i open up the tank and am faced by the daunting task of actually doing sth to the bike. So dun mind me if i stand there like an idiot later on nt knowing what to do. But i hope i'll learn sth useful. Even if its by juz looking at what u n matthew are gona do.

Just curious. You bought your bike brand new? Did they give you a manual?

If you've read the manual regarding run in, you would seen that it's explained there. 0 to 800KM, not to exceed 6000RPM, and 800 to 1500KM not to exceed 9000RPM.

The service light will come out the 1st 1000KM and then after that, every 4000KM.

You wouldnt have to be so worried regarding your run in. These were factory instructions.

Its a gorgeous bike with only a few more things left before its track ready... Still have a few very important parts that he refused to put on cos it's not aesthetically pleasing. hahaha... And I think if he took it to track it'll seize again. Need to settle the carburetion first.

So are we going track in November for practice?

SubZero : yep i read the manual before. But it said there that to disable the service warning light we have to go to an authorised aprilia dealer/workshop. But it seems that simply removing the battery will reset that service light. So i was initially wondering if we can remove that service warning on our own. And i guess ive ans my own qn regarding this.

When i saw the ohlins my jaw dropped. But didnt get a chance to see the front part of the bike coz it was parked head first so didnt see the forks. I dun tink i will ever get that crazy on my bike ah. But its really cool to see someone build their bike up to the maximum potential, esp these little 125cc machines.

Seeing how the general populous here is illiterate, I'm not sure how many will read this article or how much of it will be read, but just thought I'd share this interesting piece.

He didnt ride the bike when it seized. An extremely aggressive 600cc rider did. This just shows hw sensitive our bikes are.

Nothing great about the Ohlins. $1200, and you can get it. And according to many pro riders, it's not that good.. Coz it doesnt have high speed, low speed compression adjustability. Just compression only.

So the pro riders have very sensitive butts that require suspension tuning to be very fine so they need that level of adjustability. :)

You can try other brands, Penske, Bitubo, Wilbur etc.

WHAT!?!?!?

I hope that rider is paying for the overhaul. :nono:

Actually our rev-happy bikes shouldn't seize so easily if they're tuned properly. Perhaps it's time to check the mixture?

I just seized my bike 2 days ago after I removed my filter sponge. I was already running my mixture so lean it was right on the edge. heh heh... Changing just one variable slightly must have pushed it over.

Don't worry, it has both rebound & compression adjustment. Actually sportbike do not require high speed damping adjustment. Only dirt bike do need that.

You wont believe this, he actually converted to pre mix before the track session just to safeguard this problem. The conrod and bearings all shattered.

And yes, luckily the guy who rode will be splitting costs.

My gear balancers just shattered today too.... Damn it!
