My bike is showing confusing symptoms. It's been like this for one week after I service it.

- Difficult to start in the morning, have to use choke.

- Able to start easily after warmed up.

- Spark plug is wet, when I checked it after bike warmed up or even after riding it around for a while.

 

Is my bike running rich? Will it show these symptoms if it run too rich?

 

How do I properly use the air-screw to mitigate this problem? should I open it more to allow more air hence leaner mixture?

Btw, the position of the air-screw is the bigger screw on the right hand side of the of the bike right? Please bear with a newbie here, I've been reading up but I just want to confirm it.

 

Edit: I'm using stock 28mm carb.

Hi Guys! I just got my 2006 rs 125 two months ago and am absolutely loving it! This machine is just a joy to ride.

 

Been reading this forum intently and trying to learn as much as i can. Now just need to put in practice some good ol' DIY. Looking forward to the next session. Hoping to learn basics like changing spark plug, cleaning valve etc.

 

Ive got 2 quick questions;

 

1. Due to the extremely limited storage space, im thinking of getting a seat bag. Anyone has thoughts on this? I saw a decent one at motorworld for $130 though have not tried if it can fit our tiny back seat. Are these safe to leave on the bike most of the time? Ease of attaching and detaching? Anyone using this?

 

2. I need to get my bike serviced (since i dont know how to DIY yet) and my temperature gauge is totally out of whack, ive read past posts and Ah Seng seems to come highly recommended. I also read he moved to a different place recently? Confused as to where i can find him now. Please advise.

hey guys, im thinking to change to RS 125. i read some reviews that this mean machine can keep up with the big bikes. most probably ill be getting a brand new one so as to start a fresh. but im just wondering if the maintenance is alright. cuz i heard from some that this bike can give you quite pain in the wallet. hope you guys can share some with me! cheers!

No offense man. Why u getting this bike again..?

 

Maintenance is alright. Regular valve svcings, gear oil change, proper 2T, occasional carbs svcing and tuning... Wouldn't cost u a bomb to svc. It's when ur piston jams or seizes that's gonna burn a deep hole in ur pocket. I forked out 1.5k for my last overhaul. With my current paycheck, alrdy made my heart skip a few beats.

 

My opinion, if u're gonna upgrade and get a bigger bike like the RVF or R6, better not buy this bike man. U're gonna waste money (unless u're well off ). Might as well tahan abit and slowly upgrade. No offense intended anyone.

hi everyone.. it was indeed a great outing cum Orientation talk feat Lawrence. Would like to thank LAwrence for real in-depth insights in covering lotsa theories behind our RS baby. I'd say most of us 'level up' that night.. And the JB story - dam it was eye-opening..

 

Kudos to Felix + Mesaboogie for initiating the spark to the outing + GOH Lawrence for giving the introductory 'speech'. We didnt cross the border to Mexico like we planned initially but at least we met up along Patong Beach Carls Jr..

 

Whoa Priller i think your pics were the nicest being the only digicam ard.. If chung be ard i guess, he'd bring his DSLR..

 

Kenny Hunter, your carpark theft story.. haha you did kick butt back then..

 

And of course our ICEMAN!!!! for his meticulous 'ke-kanan-lurus'ing of our bikes in one precise column. I'll be visiting you soon for the bulbs man..

 

I really got lots more of stuff to comment but ma mind is just blank now after a couple of calisthenics exercise at midnight..

 

Oh ya, 'hidden characters' was unlocked that night with Ardian (wave rider with seized RS) + Pendek, coincidentally meeting us at Kallang.

if we did cross the border to Mexico, i can imagine the awkwardness in having our Italian bikes arranged in one column in front of the shady Mexican kapchai gangstas in the hood with their burritos.

 

Thank goodness we didnt.. it was a big group. Can and may be enticing...
