coz it takes lots of time to tune the bike right, and like what feelicks says, what works on one bike wont work on another. And basically i think most riders dont have the balls to try out things for eg i've mentioned loads of times that from personal observations, i believe 99% of this sputtering/bogging issue in SG is due to mixture being too rich, meaning u have to lean out ur mixture, but to date I seem to be the only one seeking out smaller jets to play around with and doing crazy things like running an airboxless/filterless open pod carb. So, seeking an advance permission from vik and law to be the temporary local cynic/douche, if you dont have the balls to try out stuff then just f**k off, be contented with a sub par/bogging/sputtering/fuel guzzling piece of s**t bike and quit complaining about it.

btw Man Donut, this is not directed at u or anyone else. Just a general post =D

+1 on the having to do it yourself to fix that. haha and ash, you sound scarily like lawrence in this post.

erm im basically a new rider who knows almost 0% about maintaining bikes. esp my first bike is alrdy an aprilia! how many kinds of servicing are there?? i only know of 1 which is full service where they check all the impt parts like piston, piston rings and connecting rod. and they also wash my carb and valve rite? about EO change i also know nth too and greatly appreciate any help given! my computer is too laggy to even view the aprilia pdf manual...

I guess every 5000km check/wash your carb check coolant

Every 8000-10000km change your sparkplug and eo.

Every 15000 or so change your piston/piston rings.

Theres actually a list to follow if you want it i can pass it to you but i dont really baby my bike lol and just check it ever so often if it feels off then ill go and adjust/change, other than my pistons i guess.

IMO, when on a bike, its safer to b overtaking dan being overtaken...

1st when ur fast, u dun have to worry abt whether ur hogging up e rd cuz ur overtaking everyone

2nd, u can ride in e centre of e lane making urself more visible

3rd, it trains ur mind to think ahead keeping u focused

4th, our bikes are'nt meant to b ridden slow... problems like jammed valves, soaked exhaust packings n excess carbon build up in e expansion chamber will start arising

5th, riding in e power band means better throttle response, no sputtering, no bogging n smooth power delivery... stuck at 5-6k rpm, keep ur needle 7k n above n u can 4get abt tt prob

so there u have it... 5 gd reasons to ride fast... bear in mind when i say ride fast, i dun mean blast pass everyone wif ur valve open, unless ur tt confident in ur braking system, i suggest u keep e valve closed. tis post issin meant to b directed at anyone specific. its only meant to share my view.

waddaya think guys? riding fast vs riding slow?

My route is very standard everyday. From tampines to CGH then to expo, down the road beside expo and filter left into coastal road. From tampines to expo area always jam during peak hours so I ride relatively slow and that was also where I got the full blast of horn although I was only 1 car length behind the car in front. I do not lane split either just stick to the center of the lane and follow the vehicle in front. On coastal where there are hardly any vehicles I will be at 7.5k rpm with occasional pulls to 9k to open valve to prevent any "stickiness" to the mechanical valve parts. So far so good. Clean exhaust tip and a brown spark plug although FC only 20km/l (Highest gear used for this route is 4th gear to keep within speed limits)

Really dun understand cars that like to tailgate and squeeze bikes. I do not even want to mess ard bikes when i;m driving as I feel the riders are exposed to more dangers than drivers and any accident, regardless of the party at fault, have a higher chance of resulting in a fatality.

Check the user manual under scheduled maintenance table. They listed down things that u need to check, clean, repairs on regular mileage intervals

IMHO, I think that drivers who think of the riders would be those who have a bike/rode a bike before themselves. It's uncommon to see drivers who would not bully us riders just because we occupy a smaller amount of tarmac and have the mentality of "we own the road because we're bigger".

AFAIK, the minimum octane rating for our bike is RON95 but I always feed my baby 98 :)

Just came back from meeting up wif law and caleb. Tried lawrence bike and i hafta say, his is a super fun bike to ride and really lives up to his "twist and go" motto, coz well, its really twist and go. Even on gear 6 at half throttle, when u twist, the bike will pull. On my bike for eg, if on gear six half throttle and i go WOT, i can ride from upp changi road to tampines (on PIE towards Jurong) and my rev will still not top out. Super super super fun road bike to ride, a nice commuter ride with power.

That said, i feel theres alot of potential for top end power with a little sprocket ratio tweaking( but i dont think thats what he was going for when setting up the bike). A friendly 15 lamp post test saw him being in the lead by about a car length up till around the 10th lamp post, caught up with him at 12-13th lamp post with still one more gear to go for me(not sure what gear law was on)

I will not say that lawrence's ride is the best most powerful RS in Singapore but i believe he has achieved the perfect compromise between power and rideability. And i think it serves as a lesson for those want to sell their bikes to upgrade coz they're not happy with the performance. I've ridden super 4's before, from Version S to Revo's and honestly, i will take law's bike over any super four any day. Its not that the RS 125 is not good enough, its just that ur bikes are sh*t and u dont bother to set it up properly.

Testing laws bike has given me a new direction in terms of the set up of my bike and im gona work towards making my bike up to standard of his bike. Fyi i rode his bike from pasir ris to woodlands, so i had a nice long ride to really get a feel of the bike. So im not carrying anyone's balls here. Im speaking based on facts. And the facts say that this is what i want my bike to be. Hopefully with some fine tuning i'll get there one day =D

Anyway thanks law for trusting me to test ur bike. While riding, at the back of my head i was already thinking of how im gona get the money to replace ur CF fairings if i were to low side ur bike. scary man. lol.
