Hi, my bike's also the same. Maxed out the air-screw as I want to take it (2.5 turns) to lean it a bit. Bike actually ran good when it rained (lower air temp, more air in = leaner?).

Anyways, you have any idea were to get smaller pilot and atomizer? I can only find main jets in pjme, af1... Haven't tried any local shops (mostly coz i don't know where to look :D)

Thanks in advance.

btw, just got the package from pjme (a few bits only, boyesen reeds, new intake manifold, some fairing bolts, compression tester, gasket/thread locks, and a double bubble screen).

For local shops, you can always try WEDA.

In my opinion, the first issue is that you need to find a bike that is well maintained. Its a pity that quite a number of aprilia riders do not make the effort to properly maintained their bike. They cant even follow basic advises such as changing gear oil at regular intervals, cleaning the valve & carb, oiling the filter and etc. There are riders out there who have their bike screaming at every single opportunity they have, launching at every traffic light they encounter.

The Aprilia RS125 is a bike with soul. If you make a effort to understand it & treat it well, it will take good care of you. End of the day, just be careful of getting a lemon and looks ain't everything.

Hi guys.. I have a small problem concerning my dashboard.. The spanner symbol has appeared so it means im due for servicing.. I read somewhere in the forum that the servicing light will appear every 4000km.. So once ive done my servicing, how do i remove the spanner symbol? And one more thing, what is the red warning light for? The exclamation mark in the triangle i mean.. Its a general warning light.. Does that mean that if the petrol light appears, the red warning light will come on? If the spanner symbol appear, the red light will come on too? Those sort of thing? The previous owner didnt give me the manual.. Please enlighten me someone..

firstly the red light on the dash means your 2T is finishing kindly top up before you seize your piston.

secondly to remove the spanner symbol off the ignition completely and press the button below the horn for 5 seconds and turn on the ignition with the button depressed till the spanner logo disappears.

the petrol light is orange and has nothing to do with the red light. kindly download the service manual from the aprilia website for more knowledge.

summary

1. Red light is for 2T

2. orange for fuel

3. download the MANUAL.

Thats where u are wrong bro.. Ive read the manual already.. If u were referring that the red light is the red light with the triangle and the exclamation mark in it that is.. Thats not 2t.. 2t oil is the symbol that looks like a water tap..

You're right. Good job on reading up.

Usually that warning light comes up when high temp detected or low coolant level.

Check your coolant level, if it's too low, top up.

If not, bring to a mech to get it properly diagnosed.

It could be also if you're riding the RS125 with the piaggio CDI, and it's fitted with a 34mm carb, the light stays on permanently. That is normal.

Thanx bro! Just to check.. Does ah seng expertise in this? I read somewhere in the manual, that if u continue riding, while the red light is on, it has something to do with the electronics.. It will not stop the bike from moving.. But will decrease the performance

Anyway i dont think its the cdi.. Past week ive been riding, the light didnt appear at all.. Nowadays it did.. I only notice it came on when the service icon appears (spanner).. My ameteur diAgnosis will be that the bike is wArning me that i need to service soon.. Hence the spanner symbol and the red warning light

Anybody know who make number plates (the one you stick on the front screen)? Changing my bubble screen soon (old one is no longer clear, so you can't see anything when you try to tuck in). Thanks!

Like u mentioned, its a general warning light. So it will light up when anything that requires a warning comes up. Like when ur 2t is low. Or when ur coolant level is low. Or if ur tyres are wearing off. Or if ur going too fast or revving too high. Or if ur cornering too low and about to skid. And the most important function is it will light up super bright if theres a general passing by or approaching the bike.

My ameteur diAgnosis will be that the bike is wArning me that i need to service soon.. Hence the spanner symbol and the red warning light

The red triangle light is called the general warning light. It is triggered to draw your attention to something that needs to be addressed, and is usually accompanied by an alarm icon to tell you what is wrong. Alarm icons can be found in zone A of your instrument panel (see image below). So when you see the red general warning light come on, check the following:

1. Is spanner icon on? If yes, scheduled service of the bike is due.

2. Is the oil-can icon on? If yes, your 2T is low.

3. Is the EFI icon on? If yes, the problem is most likely your throttle position sensor (TPS). If you've changed to a 34mm carb, there's no connection for your TPS connector to the bike's computer, so the bike throws up an EFI error. There appears to be no negative consequences to this and no real solution to remove the EFI warning. If you haven't modified your carb, the TPS connector may be loose. If you're on a restricted bike and you've simply drilled the CDI without installing a powervalve, this will throw up an EFI error as well. In this case, installing a powervalve and solenoid assembly and connecting to the CDI will remove the EFI warning.

4. Is the coolant temperature icon (this is in zone D in the panel) blinking? If so and if your coolant bar is six bars long, your coolant temperature is too high. If your coolant bar is normal - three bars long - and your coolant icon is blinking, your temperature sensor has failed.

But my bike does not have an EFI icon.. Im not sure which year model is mine but its the same as mesaboogie's picture.. I guess its the 2010 model? Is this model restricted? Planning to break the cdi though.. Once after i go for full servicing, if im still having trouble going over 8k rpm, i might derestrict.. But ah seng says my bike has no restriction.. Conflict of information here :(

Ahhh. If you do not have an EFI icon, you've got an 06 RS125 which was not Euro 3 homologated. Ah Seng is right to say your bike (like all 06 bikes) is not restricted. The instrument panel for 06 models should look like this:

Instrument Panel 2006 Non-Euro-3.jpg

From what I can see, in or about 2007, Aprilia decided that it was going to make its RS125 compliant with Euro 3 emission standards (see here for details of Euro 3). This change was put into effect in 2008 with changes to the bike. Wikipedia has this to say "In 2008,the bikes electronics have been replaced from the usual Nippon-Denso version giving 21 KW/28 HP at the crank to more restrictive Piaggio electronics, most notably the new CDI and EFI on the Carburettor, putting out only 24 HP at the crank."

The Euro-3-homologated bikes' new CDI and EFI appears to have sacrificed some power for emissions control. You can see from the images of the new CDI connector below that the new CDI included an input for the TPS (throttle position sensor), which I suppose monitors the throttle position to change some aspect of the ignition solely for Euro-3 emission control. The Euro-3 bikes also came with the EFI icon, which seems to be solely concerned with emissions issues for Euro-3 compliance.

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k296/mx_andy_06/untitled.jpg

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k296/mx_andy_06/pinf.jpg

Restricted vs non-restricted/full power is a separate issue to Euro-3 vs non-Euro-3. I don't believe any non-Euro-3 were restricted. Some Euro-3 bikes were restricted. The purpose of the restriction was to bring the bike's power down to 11kW (14hp) to meet the demand of markets with licensing that had 11kW power limits (e.g. in the UK, if you have a driver's licence, you can ride a bike up to 11kW on an 'L' plate).

Those of you on a 2006 bike should be referring to this workshop manual - click the blue Download icon to get the pdf manual.

Those of you on a Euro-3 bike should probably be referring to this. Click to download the pdf manual.

Double thumps up bro..

Thanks bro. :shades:

Woahh loads of info here! Thanx bro! If u and ah seng say so, my bike isnt restricted then.. Make sense actually.. Quite funny though.. My bike is an FBF plate but is 06 model.. Haha.. Back to my icon problem.. I noticed that the red warning light has appeared only when my temperature sensor falls to zero (not even one bar) and the temperature icon is blinking.. But at certain times, it shows readings of 2 or 3 bars.. If my temperature sensor has failed, how can it show 2 or 3 bars at times? Shudnt it be a constant zero all the way?
