Hi everyone,

Just bought a 1998 Replica not too long ago, would like to consult u guys on an issue with my bike.

I find it diificult to change gear, and most important of all, I can't seem to kick to Neutral gear, unless I switch off my engine.

after switching off, switch to neutral become a piece of cake.

Anyone experience this before? Sorry for not reading the past post, simply tooooooo looonnnngg!. he he

Difficulty in changing gear in what sense? Pulling the clutch lever n kicking dwn or up but it didnt get in to the desired gear or its hard to kick ur gear? I used to hav difficulty to change gear during riding because of the gear lever. Just needs to set it at the right angle, but if pulling the clutch n hard to kick then probably the clutch. Its shud b normal for aprillia bike to get to neutral, jst a matter of getting used to it. Try release. The clutch likely n and the same time kicking it up to neutral..

I ride the same bike and have the same problem. I usually pull the clutch in all the way and let my bike roll forward a little to let the gear inside sit properly, then kicking up to neutral is as easy as doing it with the engine off.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

When riding I am ok with the gear change, but when it stop, the gear is still able to change downward, When I hit 1st gear, it is somehow stuck. even if i could, it is pretty stiff.

How much is a gear box?? err. yes, i am on a arrow system but the end can is gianelli. Dun ask me why, ask the previous owner.

Hi. Anyone know how much would it cost to overhaul my 2005 rs125 at ah seng? No need to be exact, just estimation will do... And what are the things that will be done for the overhauling? Any kind soul able to help me... Thank-you in advance..

^^You are looking at a top end rebuild or full top/bottom end rebuild? Costs will generally be broken down into 2 categories:

1. Parts (http://www.pjme.co.uk/acatalog/Aprilia_RS1252.html). The description will show what will be replaced during the process

2. Labour. Can't advise on this as I have never done it at 37 Motoring before.

This is also a good thread to read up on on the various maintenance jobs that are typically done on the RS125:

It is always good to arm yourself with some knowledge so you do not end up as a carrot head. Note that even good mechanics can be wrong at times and two heads/pair of eyes are better than one :)

This is also a good chart as reference to other checks that should be done in various mileage/time periods during ownership of the bike:

well it depends on what are the parts needed to be replaced. a definite yes to gaskets, rings, coolant and EO.

but may be as bad as replacing your block exhaust valve and piston. even worse if it requires bottom end overhaul as well..... so it depends... get your parts first before you do the your ride overhauled. just my 2 cents...

3. Is the EFI icon on? If yes, the problem is most likely your throttle position sensor (TPS). If you've changed to a 34mm carb, there's no connection for your TPS connector to the bike's computer, so the bike throws up an EFI error. There appears to be no negative consequences to this and no real solution to remove the EFI warning. If you haven't modified your carb, the TPS connector may be loose. If you're on a restricted bike and you've simply drilled the CDI without installing a powervalve, this will throw up an EFI error as well. In this case, installing a powervalve and solenoid assembly and connecting to the CDI will remove the EFI warning.
