8 years... Got nothing left to do on my bike, so have to move on to Ducati. Bike is so well-tuned, it starts on 1 crank even after months of just sitting there under sun and rain. 25-30km/L, spark plug requires changing once a year or less, only change it because backside itchy, and valve never seizes. You tell me, this kind of bike, what else is left to tweak around? Nothing. :( So boring.

Only left wit upgrading to a ducati....i know isa and alfiyan also upgraded to ducati liow... but yet to taste the track... :(

Quite a pity.... I really really want to upgrade to Aprilia, especially with the new RSV4... DAMN that machine is gorgeous. But I cannot live with myself if I had to give Mah Pte Ltd even 1 cent of my money. I will give them nothing. If I really wanted an RSV4, I will import it and register it with LTA. I'd rather spend more money elsewhere than let Mah get their hands on it.

So, Ducati it is.

I think you should sell your bike and buy a CBR150. Durable and affordable. Engine will last almost forever.

If you can't afford a $200 radiator, you won't be able to afford other things that will break down on you. It's only a matter of time. :)

It appears there is a lot of unhappiness due to poor customer service quality but that is why there are always alternatives ;)

Not when the only viable alternatives I see are the workshops I visit overseas. Seems like the only workshops with PROPER TRAINED MECHANICS who TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR WORK are in the UK, US and perhaps a few large workshops in Italy.

I've been there in person, watched them work on bikes and was impressed. The mechanics are all educated and trained in the factory. The Ducati's that roll into the shop are handled by the guy who trained a few months in the Ducati factory. The Aprilia's are handled by the guy who went to Aprilia for training in the factory as well.

Here in Asia, all mechs were taught by their shifu, who were in turn taught by their shifu. Just because you've been doing it for 20 years doesn't mean it's not wrong. You just haven't fcuked up badly enough for something bad to happen yet. I'm just fed up having to pay for mechanics who don't know what their doing, or figuring out along the way when I can do a better job myself, at no cost.

Why the closed door policy at the workshops here, like M*h? Why don't mechanics like customers watching them work on bikes? How would you feel if you went for brain surgery and in the middle of the operation you woke from your anesthesia and overheard the surgeons saying "Hey what do we do next?", "I don't know, let's turn to page 347 on the brain surgery manual..."

You're lucky if the mechs here even consulted manuals for issues they do not understand. Most just troubleshoot blindly, shooting in the dark, hoping to chance upon a solution.

The reason a guy with no mechanical inclination and engineering background like myself could pick up the workshop manual and study it and eventually overhauled his bike completely all by himself in his void deck was simply because there are no good mechs out here in Asia. I didn't have a choice. I forced myself to do it, and you know what? I did a better job than any mech I've seen here, and most of my friends who have watched me work think the same.

All working with the motto "Fake it until you make it". And I still faked it better than them.

Not quite a vote of confidence for the local mechs.

Thread finally cleaned up but is now dead :)

Yeah, the higher-ups in charge took so long that everyone has migrated to a new forum.

Oh well, less trouble for the mods to worry about here...

Any Old Angry Birds around!!! lmao!!

None. All left SBF and gone to the new forum already...

This forum actually enabled me to gain insights and basic theories on the RS125 before i actually purchased my RS back in 2009. It is via this forum that i learned the basic practical ways of removing the valve the right way instead of forcing it out. It is via this forum that i watched and observed mechanics service various RS125s and identified good ones that know the how-to's.

As the equivocal saying goes,"Take care of your ride and your ride will take care of you." - My RS has never backed down and is always in good form. To all the rumors that illustrated our RS125 as sick-coughing machines - well it is true only due to neglect. Otherwise, it is a roaring loyal and healthy beast.

No regrets and no remorse.

I actually purchased my RS 125 from this forum and like you, did learn quite a fair bit about how to maintain the bike here.

I agree with you that good, regular preventive maintenance (rather than spending on bling) on the RS will ensure that it will serve you faithfully and reliably.

Hi all, im currently riding an Aprilia Tuono 125 2005 model and i've been facing some problems lately and this have made my trip to and fro school VERY terrifying. So i hope to find the solution. Just to let you know, the bike have been in layup for around 2-3 months but i have just changed the batteries mileage is ard 4000 clicks. This is just the first week im riding my bike as i just recently only settled my insurance and road tax.

The problem is that the bike stalls sometimes when im in first gear CLUTCHED IN. once, i stalled when i reached the trafficlight. after i slow down gradually, when i want to come to a complete stop while i already pull the clutch, the bike stalls. (by the time im already in first)

And most of the time, after such incidents, i find it very hard to start up the bike. i usually have to push the bike to the side of the road and try 5-6 time before the engine starts again.

also my engine either dies(doesnt stall, it just dies) or loses power when i slow down abruptly sometimes

i have read the forums and some say its the clutch cable too much freeplay, others say idling RPM too low, some say need clean the carb or need retune carb(too much air), or got water in the fuel tank??

can someone help me analyse my problem and see whats wrong? my trip home today was very traumatising as i kept on stalling a few times along lentor and i probably made a few drivers/riders angry at me :( i was very frustrated at my bike and myself and i sincerely appologise if i have been a nuisance, do under stand im a p-plate rider :(

and thanks in advance...

I would suggest that you pay some tuition fees to a trust worthy mechanic and let him sort it out.

you can try to look for Seng to fix your problem..

I got this lose of power and leak to engine dies off before. It like dies off at traffic or during idling. Eventually unable to start up even try to blow the throttle it just sound like oil choking sound and dies off..

Check with a few motorshop all give diff. opinions. like water drop goes into tank and ....

went to seng and got it fix just once. carb dirty that leads to oil supply..

Seng quite good in aprilia u should go check out.

We were all p-platers once. Please do not feel sorry for asking stupid questions. We only flame you if you spread stupid misconceptions without doing your homework.

It sounds like it could be any of the above problems. I could have said the same thing- water in petrol tank or carb, clutch cable too much freeplay and/or idle too low (could be both), or carb needs a check-up.

Listen to liquidy. He's made a very good point. Ah Seng of 37 Motoring is a good place to start.
