Made it home in one piece! Good ride everyone. Everyone's got a sore ass now. No problems from the mitos and aprilias except mine as usual.

Kudos to the mito guys, richard with his p-plates and amin with a pillion!

Cruz was having a blast on his RS125.

Gd to know everybody's back home in one piece. Hope u enjoyed the race and the aprilia cup race shortly after the motogp ended where 3rd place went to a RXZ. No joke. Btw the aprilia races there use pirelli corsa costing RM900 per pair!!

Im just back from KL. Sori I cudnt call U bro when u were there. Had sime problems with my phone due to the rain earlier in the trip. Anyway, hospitality wise, the KL guys are superb. Didnt gat to meet many of them though cos the ride up trip from the Aprilia HQ at Bangsar was cancelled or so I heard.

We should do something for them if they decide to pop over. Im sure they would especially since they now know how much cheaper our parts are and especially the prices for our tyres. 300% tax on imported goods where most of them especially bikes cost RM90k at least. But for RM80k for a RSV factory, it sure is much cheaper than what MAH is selling now.

Just an observation, Aprilia RSV in malaysia is simply every where. They just love the bike too much. In singapore? haha can count liao. 2003 model also hard to reach. 21k for a 2003RSV at MAH. Anybody interested? :p

21k for the RSV?? i thot the price quoted earlier was 16 - 17k?? din know bike value can appreciate so much in such a short span... or they quoted wrongly?

But ever since I'm using BR9ES and BR9ECM, my plug kept fouling! I know my setting is a bit rich and that B9EGV has anti-fouling capabilities, but can't possible foul so easily, rite?? or it really does foul that easily??[/b]

I doubt it has anything to do with resistor or non-resistor plugs. As far as I know, resistors only restrict radio frequency interference, not spark quality. CM-type NGK plugs have short, angled ground electrodes. But what probably helps against fouling is G-style tips, which are fine centre firing tips, as opposed to coarser S-style tips. G-style tips are only found in NGK racing-style plugs like BR9EG (nickel alloy centre & ground electrodes), B9EGV (gold palladium centre electrode, nickel alloy ground electrode) and B9EGP (gold palladium centre electrode, platinum ground electrode). I think your BR9ECM has an S-type centre tip, which means more surface area to foul, and dispersion of spark heat over a larger surface area so there's less ability to burn off deposits.

Nonetheless, your plug shouldn't be fouling so easily even with a an S-type centre electrode. You mentioned before that your 2T intake is rich, right? Try leaning that a bit first. If that doesn't help, then lean your carburetion. It's probably your 2T. Yet, I can't help but wonder if changing to your smaller PWK carb will help your situation. Can you tell if it's petrol fouling or 2T fouling?

too much resistance does make your spark weaker, makes the plug foul easier too.

Interesting link, but the guy does admit that his findings were arrived at through trial and error by one person. Perhaps we should all coordinate a large scale test.

Anyway, NGK claims this. Of course, manufacturers can claim whatever they want. However, in my experience so far, non-resistor spark plugs don't seem to be more resistant to fouling. Then again, I haven't been using them that long, rarely experience fouling even with standard BR*ES plugs, and change my plugs often, so my findings are far from conclusive.

yea, other forms of resistance come from chiong plug caps(contain lousy resistors which deteoriates easily) and frayed wires, especially the old bikes

the stock cap has no resistor, so theres no problem running resistor plugs. in fact, the BR10EG is recommended by the manual

its okay to have a resistor plug with a non-resistor cap or vice versa, since the value of the resistor is same. however u shouldnt combine a resistor cap with a resistor plug :)

my personal experience was that i needed to change the BR9ES plug every month or so, if not my top end performance will suffer greatly...this can be aggravated by expressway riding, which im crusing at lower rpms...and ive checked that my cap is the chiong one

for sale :

rotax 122 clutch basket - very low wear, see to believe!

25 piece cdr - brand new $8

17" monitor - flickers when cold $10

castrol chain wax & chain spray - still a lot left $5

I'm quite scared of chiong stuff nowadays :blur: Have you changed your plug cap? What did you change it to?

17k was what they quoted when Shane and I went down to check out the bike..

Then when Servo went down, they quoted higher.. Dunno la.. Maybe the boss not in the day when Shane and I went down..

the petrol is definitely rich.. even when the 2t setting is at it's leanest, the bike still smoke.. and yet.. i just got a box of jets from edmund and i hope to do it by tis weekend..

anyway, since my 2t is at it's leanest now.. when i down jet my setting, do i need to richen my 2t setting?? or i shall just leave it as it is.. since the bike is running fine. cos richen the 2t and down jettin the carb will affect the 2t/petrol ratio, 2t will increase quite a big ratio if i richen 2t and down jet.

If you think your current 2T flow is really sufficient for safe running, then I say don't touch it, and just adjust your jetting. However, I wouldn't personally be comfortable with just the appearance of good runing when it comes to 2T, and it's not just cuz of my past piston seizure. Due to our climate, the way I'd do it is to richen the 2T intake a lot until it starts dripping from your exhaust, and then slowly leaning it till your exhaust tip is dry; rather than start from a lean 2T setting and increase it based on guess work. I'd get my 2T setting right first, then do my jetting.
