gongong,

After what i heard from Cruz, he once told me his bike engine sounds different after crossing a certain RPM.. Unfortunately with a full face and mp3 music blasting in my ears, i rarely hear my engine clearly...

If any bearings on your friend's bike is loose, I think you can hear it once the engine is running regardless of wat RPM right? Conrod bearings and piston loose is more of a knocking sound if i am not wrong.. Not sure what is ringing sound... Is it like a 'cling, cling' kinda sound?

ringing, clanging, clinging, tinkling, clonking, clapping, knocking....

i think you get the idea. one man's clink is another man's clonk. i think what would be best if lacrimosae could record the sound of the bike for all to hear, then we all will know what a loose con rod bearing actually sounds like.

but seriously - i remember a long time back reading about an indonesian cartoonist named Tom - apparently the tradition where he was born was to be named after the first sound that the mother hears after childbirth. So, when he was born, a mortar shell exploded somewhere close, and in some weird fashion, they translated that mortar shell sound to Tom. i dunno, being PC and all so i guess i have to say i don't mean offence or to make fun of him, but maybe if you say it loud enough, like "TOM!!!" it could sound like a bomb..

Haha no need to worry mike...

I'm extra careful in watching out for traffic.. No matter how loud the music, you can still hear cars honking away merrily..

Dude, how's ur bike?

it's not the honking, by then it may be too late, but the engine sounds that give you a clue of what's around you without you even turning your head. Well, i'd say - to each his own; know that i say this out of concern.

bike? i think i am resigned to not having one till maybe christmas, depending on whether jupiter is entering the constellation virgo, or if neptune will occlude star cluster M163, or whatever.

makes me think seriously if my big bike (wait till i get my license! arrgh the wait!) is going to be italian.

friend suggested to me that many big bikers usually have a spare bike, like a wave, or scooter, to ride when the big bike's waiting for spares...

especially since in comparison to a (say) Ducati S4R (have a crush on that bike now), a used wave is but the cost of a new exhaust system...

Whatever it is, it should be checked out as soon as possible. It could be as harmless as vibrating parts, or as serious as pre-ignition or detonation.

hey pal, wat exactly is wrong with ya bike eh???

ya know, a full overhaul doesn't take more than 3 days at ideal???

even if ya blok is scratched.. the sam man also doesn't take 2 months to do it...

if MAH can't do it.. jus bring it elsewhere.. unless they are doing it free, since ya under warranty.. then i guess ya don't have much of a choice..

Mike, I agree with Eyz in this... Mah cant possibly take that looong.. unless of course maybe they are waiting for parts from overseas? That is the only possible thing i can think of for the delay.. Like what eyz said, even Sam at First Motor is faster.. and Sam has the luxury of even turning away people who want to do overhaul coz he is soo busy...

yeah, it is still under warranty, so i am waiting. currently, the wait is for the service country managers to come back to their offices from the milan show or whatever, then they can decide whether to warranty it or not. read somewhere else that the italians *can be* damn "lazy" people, taking the whole of august (?) off to go for their annual vacations - you have a broken bike? sorry...

sigh, if only we could have vacations like that here.

Guys,

i heard that the new Aprilia 125 is being unveiled at the Milan Show!! So hopefully we can here from Mah about this..

Anyway, Mike, i dun understand why you have to wait? You waiting for our local managers or the italian managers?? Either way, i htink it is ridiculous.. Dun tell me Mah is so incompetent that no one else knows whether your warranty is valid..

I suggest you have a talk with the boss or something.. I understand the wait is killing you.. I know how it feels bro.. i waited 3 weeks for Sam to finish my overhaul.. It felt soo good to ride my biek after that..

thanks for the concern guys, but for now, can i request that speculations as to the delay, or comments about the efficiency and effectiveness of companies (Aprilia S.p.A., or Mah Pte Ltd) be curtailed? It really is not very fair to either the companies, or to myself.

but here are some facts, that i share to my friends, with no attempt to smear any party involved.

Yes, there was an engine seizure.

yes, there was a con-rod bearing failure.

yes, there was a cracked crankcase.

for now, all i can do is to miss my bike...

and eh Vik - ARC is public what. ANYBODY can read it.

I'll let Mike speak for himself but I will say this - he's got to be careful what he says publicly, not because he has anything to hide, but because it's the smart thing to do when warranties and fine print are involved. How many times have you had your own words turned against you? If you want to know all the details, PM/email/SMS him or meet him for kopi; that's what I did.

thanks dude.

the model year 2006 tuono 1000R looks really sweet :lovestruck:

but for me, the idea of having the 996cc ducati testastretta lump exposed for all to see really appeals. and did you see the one sided swingarm?

so it still is a dilemma. fortunately (?) i have time enforced to mull over it... who knows, by the time i might want the K1200R???

having had one experience, now i know that plastic is expensive. another experience from a friend was a 2 month wait for plastic that cost $5000.

that's why naked bikes rule... :D

actually now thinking about it, i wonder why cars don't have body panels of plastic? with those weight savings, it would be environmentally more sensitive, isn't it?

actually, so is the reverse - naked bike riders are automagically turned into yandao bikers. it is the naked bike reality distortion field at work.

waves hand: naked bike riders are yandao: waves hand again
