Old birds now patronise new site. Seldom check back to this thread...

Everyone's gotta take a step back and chill for a bit. Sometimes its hard to be inspired by people who lack enthusiasm. I still meet up regularly with Aprilia owners, but only a select group.

I heard Benjamin once went to someone's Northern home to conduct a valve cleaning class (and he lives near Holland Village), but said Aprilia owner did not have

1) solvents

2) scrubs, rags

So I'm guessing like any growing organisation, people will eventually fall into their own cliques they are comfortable with, which will continue to attract similar type of people.

We are all individuals and we will make choices that would make ourselves happy, often and not surprisingly we choose to be with like-minded individuals with whom we enjoy meeting.

I think that the attitude we have towards our bikes, towards riding, and towards others show what kind of a person each one of us are. Self-centeredness is like the common flu which all of us has suffered from one time or another.

Its time to mature from All Show, No Go and All The Gear, No Idea to having a hunger for basic tuning knowledge and proper riding techniques. This is more than just speed and flash. We're all suckers for a pretty ride (c'mon, phucking admit it. you bought an Aprilia, duh), and have a little speed junkie buried somewhere inside our hearts waiting to be unleashed, but it doesnt mean we have to turn every meet up into an ego-stroking session.

Let's not give a hard time to those who are unable to turn up for meetings, and the 'Look-at-me' syndrome sufferer, and the Cant-afford-jack-but-still-wanna-look-pretty-on-a-Prilla-fool who's penny wise pound foolish scrimping on major works.

Primary School ended a LONG time ago for many of us.

Dont like 'em? Dont meet 'em. Simple. Hang with your crowd.

PS: After the short, barely 1-year stint with a motorbike workshop, I'm going back to interior designing, which has always been my first love. I still love working on some bikes, though. Not all, SOME.

Feel free to buzz me if you wanna meet for a chat or a ride up Pasir Gudang. Don't worry needlessly whether I'm a discriminating rider.

I DON'T DISCRIMINATE. I HATE EVERYONE. hur hur hur

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

i suspect for the most part, on the user level, understanding basic hydrodynamics should be sufficient. The heavy duty equations would probably be more suitable for one who is designing a new carburettor, and would have so many exceptions for non-standard conditions in our real world that it would be too complicated to hand-solve. i suspect even the carb designers have to make use of computational fluid dynamics methods.

for us at the user level, with access to only a buttock dyno, it would be hard to be sure that changes made really have a significant impact on the performance.

Not saying that one should not understand the theory in-depth, but i am thinking that the variables that we can manipulate are rather limited. So, perhaps being slightly less ambitious might be good?
