Hi all,

I need anyone that had experience in this to help explain:

Situation:

Sprayed a black color on helmet or fairing, got shiny look (glossy black).

Questions:

QN 1: DO I need to put a clear lacquer coating?

(I have Nippon Pylox Clear lacquer)

QN 2: What is the purpose of the clear lacquer?

QN 3: If it recommended to coat it with clear lacquer, what is the proper technique? same like normal spray coating?

Thank you in advance!

the clear coat is basically to act as a protective layer

i've tried out 2 brands of clear coat: Nippon Pylox and RJ

personally find the RJ one better

technique for spraying clear coat:

- a few thin layers is better than 1 thick layer

- try to do it under the sun (hopefully where it is less windy)

but my personal experience after spraying 4 thin layers of black + 2 thin layers of clear coat = the paint still gets chipped off rather easily :cheeky:

Clear lacquer the Pylox not really good la the nozzle always stuck..Get Bosny or RJ..Spray even coats (thin)..Let dry..Spray again..Repeat process..Lacquer coating must be more than colour so as to make the paint harder to chip off..Lastly to keep you finish product looking nice and protecting it..Wax it with car wax (those can type not the liquid bottled ones)..This will make it last longer and if done right prevent cracks..:goodluck:

I have tried to see things from your point of view..But no matter how hard I try..Or what I do..I just can't get my head that far up my butt..
