WSS had a rider dead last yr in one of the venues...sure FIM event i belief.

Craig Jones death was a freak accident, he crashed in the middle of the track and Andrew Pitt who was right behind him ran into his head. In the whole motogp history, there were only two deaths, there was this rider long time ago who died testing cars and the other was Daijiro Kato, which was pretty much a freak accident but still Suzuka was removed from the motogp calender.

Some of you said that track riding and races are dangerous and the individual should take part at their own risk. So why is it that many forums overseas encourage people to take their riding on the track and off the street? And why in some states that the police organises drag races to encourage people off the street and race the cops on the dragstrip? In Australia, i havent heard of any deaths in any trackdays or races but in SG i have heard of two in the last two years. Now why is that so? Even though they are charge heaps for trackdays and racedays in Australia, its always run in a way that safety is the highest priority and well train medical support is available. And hell i even seen people being heli evacuated to the hospital a few times just to make sure the rider is all right.

Well, both Aus and SG are well developed countries, but why are expectations for safety so different?

So they clever..came up with the indemnity form so ppl cant sue them in the event of a crash but Nway ppl can still sue lah...because of the inadequate medical support..thats wat ppl can sue on..

actually no need to sue the organisers, can sue the guys that provided the ambulance

I don't agree. His loss was completely needless and unnecessary. What fool would design a track for motards, with no run-off, with a tire wall merely feet away from the end of the finish straight, when the bikes are travelling at their fastest? As usually the case among amateur race organisers - participants enter at their own risk.

I agree with u throttlestop, tuas track is dangerous... no run-off... I do believe that the track is really so unfinished.... somemore singapore so proud of this small track....just like F1 street track.....

I think i saw bro feroz b4....rest in peace RACER...

btw Can sue the "medics" for taking things for granted?

No one is asking for aeromedical evacuation, certainly not when the nearest full-service hospital is merely 8 to 10 minutes away by road. This is not Eastern Creek or Philip Island we are talking about.

If you have nothing of value to add to the discussion, don't.

SMSA should take the ambulance service provider to task, by reporting them to the regulatory / licencing body which I believe to be either the Ministry of Health or one of its agencies. Their license to operate should be scrutinised and if necessary, withdrawn. No other event organiser should have to played out, the way SMSA was left high and dry.

Competition Secretary???

Dont waste time.. Go straight to the right post.. Its like u having a Doctor's Cert and doing a Nurse job.. SMSA need a young and talented (with heart and brain) in the higher post..

I WILL STRONGLY vote Hart for the VICE PRESIDENT Post.. That is as good as the President for the Biker's..

Competition Secretary handles mostly racer's affair..

Vice President should have more say in a lot of area..

Cheers

i strongly agree...

hart,

jus like how u n melvin ran da show in da skate federation back den, i'm sure things will improve for all of us...

oh...

i'm sure alot of ppl will support and vote for u.

cheers!

many times we bikers have tried but as long as the president is from the car side difficult to get support unlike in the 70s or 80s. Must have time to b in the commitee and u only get complaint but no help from members.

Bo bac oo kut.

Out of 10 u must get at least 8 bikers in the commitee and gettin them to come for the AGM is difficult, how to win. They only cometo renw com licence/membership that's the only time u see their face

Who the heck is asking for a helicopter? What planet are you from?

We just need acceptable resources, thats all! Not a space shuttle or a trackside helipad, CATSCAN machine and Doctor House on standby!

All we are asking for is an acceptable level of PROPER ORGANISATION, RESOURCES & PROACTIVE (instead of reactive) PLANNING!

Deganduss, you are making yourself look like a fool every time you post. I recommend you go and hide in the Batu Caves, until everyone forgets who you are.

The monkeys there should be able to teach you a thing or two about common sense.

Like Throttlestop said, dont post if you have nothing constrcutive to say.

Corner7,

Hey dude,

Yeah, come to think of it, I think I might have run from the cops a few times with him while skating! Hahaha!

Holy Cow, I’m surprised anyone remembered those times when we were skating around doing shows.

I got to say, I loved those times, but the decision that Mervyn and I took to organize the skating scene and run the shows we did took a lot of sacrifice.

We were just poly dudes and took a lot of our personal time out to meet organizers, plan shows, build ramps, recruit skaters, train, bargain for pay, get sponsors…etc…

We (the now defunct “ASD” – Aggressive Skating Division) are proud of what we achieved as a group, but this meant that Merv and I never had time to skate and in the end, it took so much out that I had to quit skating and doing shows in my last poly year so I could just get my Diploma!

In spite of everything, there are regrets and lessons we drew from that experience – we should have cooperated more with Eddie Goh (Go Sports @ Margeret Drive), but we were too young and blind loyalty screwed us in the end.

Thanks for reminding me of those nice memories mate, I owe you coffee.

Dark Divine, Asjunior, Dayakz73, Amba, Tknge, Kelvin67, Doc, Newbie, Corner7,

Thanks for the support, but this ain’t as simple as we would like it to be.

Racing for the last 2 years taught me 3 valuable lessons:

1. No rider in this world is good enough to win if his bike and team is not up to scratch. It’s all about the package.

2. I crash well and spectacularly, providing lots of entertainment for the crowd – HAHAHAHA! Must be the skating!

3. If you stop having fun, STOP RACING. The friends I have made while racing are worth more than all the trophies in Asia combined.

Even Valentino would not have won the championship in 2004 if he did not have Jeremy Burgess and his old crew behind him.

What I am trying to say is that it takes a TEAM to change things permanently.

Changing the Comp Sec or Vice President may provide slight improvements, but one man/woman can only do so much, which may not be worth the effort in the first place.

Like when we formed ASD, we knew it would work because we had a TEAM, some of Singapore’s best skaters (some still skate today), good relations, great communication, tonnes of experience, links with the whole community, strong management skills and an ample supply of Tobacco & girls. MUAH AH AH AH AH!

As flattering as it may be to be nominated by local heroes like Kelvin, Amba & Doc Dol, I must be frank and say that I won’t be able to do much (other than write obscenely long newsletters and make long winded meetings longer), if I go in alone.

I’m not talking about having “support” from all of you, there needs to be more like minded people as official members in positions of authority for us to see any worth while change.

There needs to be a revamp, an overhaul with big bore forged titanium high compression pistons installed with traction control.

The community also has to band together, putting aside petty squabbles (although I will eternally hate Harley Davidsons, except the V-Rod), personal interests, financial gain and most importantly – differences of opinion to come to a general consensus on what we need.

Right now, the community (riders & dealers alike) are fractioned and whatever decision one side makes, another rejects to. In the end, nobody knows what we want.

Sadly, I’m at a point where the only avenue of relaxation I have is riding. And with work like it is (I’m typing this in my office), it’s going to be a repeat of skating, where I will never get to ride. It’s also more efficient for someone already in the industry to be in these positions instead of someone who is not. It’s like having 2 jobs and I can barely cope with the one I have.

But let’s see what comes and how things pan out. I (and the rest of the motorcycling community) am curious to see what changes will be made and how long they will last; along with which heads will roll. If a mistake is made, someone has to take the fall, instead of CIA style cover ups that I hear may be happening as we type.

If the people at fault are not punished, nothing is going to change since there will be no fear. If there is no fear, then they will do what they like since they know they can get away with it.

People with their whole career in this industry should be able to carve out more time and use their related effort to make a change. This is a chance for some to earn their titles and show that they have not been sleeping on the job or putting the wrong emphasis on the wrong things.

If nothing changes for good, all of them should be fired, then crucified.

Let's see what happens mate.

I think we would all not need to work, just skate full-time if the ASD & Fudge collabo started! Sigh...

Ball is rolling, let's see how far it goes.

PS: Hope to bump into you for coffee at Dunlop St or Moonstone Lane soon.

Sieg Heil!
