In fact those who brought 05-06 ones paid only 11k or so otr? Read from the thread....I am also looking for one but the price is quite crazy....Is yen depreciating now? In fact is a very bad time to buy new jap bikes across the brands....

From my last trip to Japan, Yen is still strong at 65yen to $1 Sg

any1 noe wher to cut the wind shield to shorter??

no need to cut... there's a shorter aka sport windshield for SW

however, some has used it and change back to the stock one within days

Juz ro check since SW has HISS, does it mean we cannot use remote start?

That's why manual says can program up to 4 keys and when left 1 key, better make another or need to change the whole FI-PGM when all 4 keys used up!

if you happen to read backwards, you may find my post on this HISS matter.

but i'll summarise it here for you... this thurs got free makan liow

 

regarding HISS, i was told that technically, it is still possible to install remote start (usually comes as a function of alarm system), but you'll have to run a bypass connection to skip the HISS controller. however, strongly strongly not recommended as the risk of shorting the ECU is there. haven't heard of any SWingers installing that though

 

as for the keys, i usually recommend 3; 1 for daily riding, 1 to take along for touring, and last 1 keep at home as backup... lost your luggage n keys while out riding? there's still 1 key at home

if your bike is on hire purchase, the finance co will keep 1 key. by right, that key is supposed to be programmed together with the new duplicated ones, i.e. all keys must be programmed together. any key not in the program batch will become "disabled" (i.e. cannot start bike) as "codes" have become different. but by left, some pp just go ahead with the duplication & programming, and disregard the key kept by finance co.

 

how much to duplicate a key? price ranges from shop to shop depending on how much you are chopped. i paid $35 for the key (including programming), got it cut at mr mint for $4, so total

But dead battery maybe not as the codes are stored in flash memory

A dead battery or lose your key... your bike is in a coma liao.

what SW9000 mean is that when the batt is dead, our SW can't be started as well... most if not all scoots cannot be push-started like normal motorcycles. clutch is in free gear until near 2+ to 3k rpm, how to push start

that's why having a healthy batt is very important, can also consider carrying a jump cable in the underseat

My coil burned out last week. Is it common in silverwings? Mine now at 54K, FY plate.

I know coil issues are common in Honda models (my old S4 got it and CBR1000 seem to have it for certain years)

all parts will breakdown sometime or another, even when well taken cared of... its only a matter of sooner or later than their respective average lifespans. mostly due to wear-n-tear, maintenance or operating issues, not forgetting the elements of manufacturing and/or design flaws. as long as the item breakdown within normal range, guess should be acceptable ba... coil and rectifier issues seems to be common in honda bikes (not just SW). other makes/models also have their own set of issues too

but of course as a consumer, i also prefer things never to breakdown

to confirm wat u buy will be correct, u can go Ah Choong there ask him open for u. i've change almost all my lights less the meter lights which i did change on my Burgman 650 & FJR. changing the signal lights to LED kinds, will eventually make your signal flash very fast. then you'll need to get a signal flasher relay. where to get? better find someone who knows how to play with it.

new OTR 17.5k ... mathematically, 2 yrs old becomes around 13+k, less some for higher mileage, wear-n-tear.
