I need some advise from you guys.

Usually where would you all go to change engine oil and gear oil?

Recently I went to change gear oil and was charge $20, didnt even get the remaining bottle. He used Maxima and he told me $40 per bottle, I didnt know the price then. Came back check and it was $26+ per bottle.

Kenna CHOP right?

Haiz....

u riding SW also?

engine oil: advisable not to use > #w40 or risk your magnetto

changing SW's eo needs 2L or 2.2L (require 3 botts but can keep remaining) if changing oil filter as well. prices (include labour) depend on brand & syn-grade, >$30+/bott to

many of us uses Maxima extra4 (~$24/bott) and Motul 7100 (~$22/bott) and we will get to retain the remaining 0.8L.

$40/bott for maxima... do you know which model? i know the ultra4 is very expensive.

gear oil: advisable to use #w40 per the manual

most of us follow the owners' manual and use 10w40 for gear oil, usually the same eo we change. gear oil amount is about 1/3 bott so $20 is cut-throat price.

there's always a first time... learn from there lor

Thanks for your reply.

I used to be a Swing owner. Now riding other model of maxi scoot.

It was maxima gear oil, I didnt notice the number but it was a grey coloured label. He told me 1 bottle is $40+.

I am very disappointed, they are highly recommanded here in SBF.

BTW, may I know which motortiam you go to? Can PM me? :cheeky:

The shop have many fans here, I dont want to be flame.

I dont want to ruin the business lah, just do not know the market price for such things. Last time I buy my Swing from Looi's and always go there for EO change and stuff, they dont charge me worksmanship. I just find that $60 for cleaning of the roller and case and $20 for gear oil change is abit much. Maybe I think too much, maybe the price is ok for some people. I dont know.

Let bygone be bygone.

I am gathering some info on brake pads:) my next change should be in a month or so...

Brand used; goldfern, newfern, ferado.

All above i feel that its ok but am thinking of getting/trying a better 1 :)

Original 1s feel the best for now as it seems to be more lasting and brake efficient... but am considering 'braking(HH)' cos price almost the same as original 1.

Any suggestion from u bros?

Brand and price?

Thanks.

60 for cleaning of the roller and case and $20 for gear oil change is abit much

i got my transmission assembly (front n rear) cleaned swee swee for about half of what you paid:

+ cleaning of assembly cover (used petrol to clear away stubborn dirt n blow dry)

+ remove variator & rollers for cleaning, check/grease rollers n roller ramps

+ remove belt, blow clean & checking

+ unmount clutch assembly and remove clutch pegs for cleaning

+ check/clean clutch pads, clean/grease pivots

+ wash/blow dry/check clutch bell

+ finally, put everything back

only complaint is mech "tok tok tok" too many times when tightening the front variator and clutch assembly nuts... my heart is like kok kok kok during each tok :pity: will tell mech not to do so next time

bike response felt really good after that... plan to do this every 10k :thumb:

a bottle of reasonably branded/good gear oil costs about $10, thus $20 to change dunno what oil is not abit much... abit exorbitant.

Hi, Will probably be collecting bike next week.

Anything to look out for when collecting bike?

Brand new?

Suggest 1st oil change at earlier 100km then followed by usual running in oil change interval.

Other than that, just becareful the soft front end especially when cornering. Takes time to get use to.

Most of us set the rear suspension at number 3 for softer ride.

If you want stable corning (or always pillion), can try number 4.

Mineral oil will do for all running oil change.

After run in then use fully synthetic.

SW works well with 10W40 oils.
