i got my transmission assembly (front n rear) cleaned swee swee for about half of what you paid:

+ cleaning of assembly cover (used petrol to clear away stubborn dirt n blow dry)

+ remove variator & rollers for cleaning, check/grease rollers n roller ramps

+ remove belt, blow clean & checking

+ unmount clutch assembly and remove clutch pegs for cleaning

+ check/clean clutch pads, clean/grease pivots

+ wash/blow dry/check clutch bell

+ finally, put everything back

only complaint is mech "tok tok tok" too many times when tightening the front variator and clutch assembly nuts... my heart is like kok kok kok during each tok :pity: will tell mech not to do so next time

bike response felt really good after that... plan to do this every 10k :thumb:

a bottle of reasonably branded/good gear oil costs about $10, thus $20 to change dunno what oil is not abit much... abit exorbitant.

Bro, care to share which shop?

Hi, Will probably be collecting bike next week.

Anything to look out for when collecting bike?

peng yiu... u owe me kopi ok... specially dug this 1.5yrs ago old post up for you :cheeky:

simple checklist

before accepting bike and riding out, suggest you do thorough physical condition check on the bike. although there's a 1 year warranty, but returning to get it fixed will take time and cause many inconvenience o_O

+ go round bike to make sure no scratches on body/paintwork/wind shield (heard quite often at pillion's handle bar area). if got scratches, insist on replacement. if shop say no stock or replace later, better to get black-n-white written down

+ test all lights... nornal/high headlights, passing light/switch, signal lights, brake lights, underseat cabin light, rear number plate light, etc

+ test horn working

+ test IU working by putting in cash card

+ test both keys can start bike (if under loan, gets only 1 key)

+ test both keys can open/lock seat & left lockable compartment

+ make sure the blue indicator light don’t light up during crank start (indicates battery problem)

+ make sure electronics don’t “restart” (system check) during crank start (possible sign of weak battery)

+ make sure the blue indicator light don’t appear during crank start

+ check odometer reading is reasonable (new bike cannot have travelled many Ks)

+ check engine idle revolutions is stable (cannot be up-n-down) and not too high (stock setting usually initial start around 1.7k, warmed around 1.3k)

+ listen for abnormal sound from transmission & clutch/gear area when idling

+ rev engine a bit while on main stand and listen for abnormal sound from engine, transmission & clutch/gear area

+ test engine cut-off when side-stand is put down and via kill switch

+ check tool kit is there, below seat

+ mechanic to measure tyres' air pressures, increase rear pressure according to manual

+ check tyres "birthday", shouldn’t be >2 years tyres unless ex-stock bikes

+ test hand brake working

+ check engine oil level, ask mechanic to "teach" you how to carry out routine eo check

+ check front/rear brake fluid levels

+ check coolant level

+ once on the road, immediately test effectiveness of brakes

remember to ask for all the things you're supposed to get... e.g. owner's manual, tool kit, spare keys (if any), insurance certificate/receipt, official purchase receipt from shop, any black-n-white for replacements or promises, etc.

remember to register your warranty within 1 month of purchase, previously if register online can get extra 3 months warranty from boon siew

few days later comp, you should receive letter from LTA stating details of the bike (e.g. reg nos, chasis nos, engine nos, coe, etc) and that you're the legal owner of the bike. if you didn't get that, call shop to enquire.

recommended:

have a total of 3 keys if you intend to go for overseas trips; 1 permanently at home, 1 for use & 1 as standby when riding outside Sg. in case loose all keys while overseas, still got 1 key at home. changing whole ignition set is very expensive. usually can bargain for lower price if u buy bike from shop, i got mine for $35 each (include programming). some shops charge higher, read this thread on keys for HISS

personal advise:

the SW is a long-n-heavy maxi-scoot, so its handling mechanics (e.g. CG, turning circle, balance, stopping distance, etc) is different from your current road bike, cruiser, scrambler, etc. biggest advise to a new SW rider is "do not attempt to man-handle or muscle the ¼ ton beast"... once it tilts to a certain angle, it is almost impossible to wrestle the ¼ ton metal-n-plastic back upright. some SWingers drop their bike within weeks of riding, record is within hours from collection :(

only one way.. cut the foam.

any shop to recommend? just got my sw...but seat height abit high for me( me only 1.63m :(...maybe new seat still haven't seasoned or will it stay the same?

Suspension setting 1 or 5 will give the lowest seat setting???

Other than that...feel sw is a good bike....very silent..just not used to parking due turning radius and footing.

1.63??? i'm only 1.61m... no probs once you get used to it

seat height will remain about the same, unless you mod; slice the cushion. can go find eugene saddlery or 219 or auntie shop :p

suspension will not lower much even set to 1, which allows the whole bike to sink down a bit more with less pre-compression at the shocks, bit ride will be soft-soft bouncy machiam riding horse :cheeky:

many thanks to all who participated in the trip... hope you all enjoyed the cholesterol topping up session

the trip started with blessings of good cool weather and that added to superb spirit among the gang despite setting off late

first stop, breakfast at a conveniently located kopitiam at perling; dunno about the cha-kuay-tiow but i tot the won-ton noodle was pretty good, some miscomm, but our friend still manage to get his "chilli free" noodles. good weather and smooth traffic allowed us to arrived at Jason bay in good time despite a short break along the way in after a turn. the stretch up passing kota tinggi was so nice that some forgot to follow the goup when the all important right turn towards Tg Sedilli came. many thanks to our sweeper, the "reunion" came without much delays amidst the jokes and photo sessions.

Jason bay is a simple place, just a beach without "b1tches" we were lucky this time round as the smallish shop was open and we manage to get some cold drinks. iced sasi plus cool sea breeze... a good break after a 1+hr morning ride. the ride down south along the coastal trunk was much better than expected, with most of the giagantic pot holes we saw last time patched up. but like the old saying goes, old one gone and new one came :p overall, still a very shiok stretch and we were cruising around 100kph.

luck was on our side when arriving at Good Luck. we managed to park in front of the restaurant at at sheltered area across the road and also didn't have to "compete" with the singaporean troopers that usually arrive by the coaches. my last makan trip to GL was such, and the lady taking our orders told us that would have been the case if we go next sat  anyway, the food was yummy (IMO, its better than Jade Garden); butter-n-oil fried and suace style steam lobsters (½+½ lobsters each), HK style steam soon-hock, samba lala, wildboar meat, plain n balachan veggies, green island "malt" drinks, etc etc. shioooook only, but cannot eat too often lah :clapping:

after filling up the cholesterol, SW9000 brought us to this confectionery where we bought the freshly made 豆沙饼 & 马蹄酥. ate some of the 马蹄酥 last night and i was like, whoa! must buy again during next visit. then we visited the pengelih customs/immigration jetty where we could arrive on ferries, but too bad, can't take our SW along on the high speed ferries.

the return trip was a wetty affair as we were hit by heavy downpour on the way to shopping/dinner stopover at Jusco Tebrau. robinowyong and trang had to skip this part and return earlier due to other commitments. on arrival, some were wet at the bottom (dun't think dirty hor) and someone had to change his underwear; wonder if he carry spares or simply fip it over... whahahaha. time to change the rain pants liow lah  if you're a fan of japanese anime, harris bookshop (popular at My) is one place you shouldn't miss, a wide collection is available. after shopping and KFC dinner, the rain resided we headed back via tuas, stopping by RSA GP for teh tarik. OMG! my stomach was like overfilled and those fellas can still put more satay  the trip ended about 9+pm and it was OTOT after the last petrol stop at esso/shell.

hope all enjoyed the makan and touring :cheeky:

There was this fellow here last time who have the same problem like you.

He went to have his seat form cut but regretted after that.

He complained that the seat become very hard, butt pain.

I also about the same height as you. The only problem that I faced last time is reversing, need lots of leg work. But it will tone up your calf nicely. :cheeky:

From my experience, My X9 also weight 200++... Put both leg down @ all times.... as the wind blow you might down the bike if you never balance properly....

Once it start to tilt, try to put back... else just gentle let it lay down....

It just a matter of getting used to the weight.... else how we upgrade to class 2 bike????

For those who ride a SW.... i don`t think will upgrade to a sport bike bah....

Either is another scoot/tourer... like Tmax, FJR, FZ1, STX, BMW,TDM, Versys?

except for BMW, the rest is near to SW weight or heavier....

Maybe case like me going to a fazer next... which is lighter....
