I noticed that when I leaned in for fast corners at 80~100km/h (considered slow for some, especially one-handers :cheeky: ), the tyres tend to be a bit noiser as the sides have slightly more grooves, especially from the rear tyre. Is this normal or means time to change tyres already? Centre grooves definitely still more than 1.6mm. Still on stock IRC tyres at close to 10k km and 1 year 9 months old.

Haha. Don't dare to trial and error.

Was hoping someone would have done all the necessary tests and positioning then can share the experience.

The Rectifier position must change for easy replacement on tour.

I'll consult my mech on next visit.

When checking on the horn, I noticed that the rectifier is in an ideal location inside the front fairing. It's away from water splash and has a vented hole directing air to the heat sink.

Maybe for touring purposes, you can consider wiring a bypass switch and connectors to the front left compartment to plug in a temporary rectifier and have a switch to off the main headlight to lower the current draw

how do you guys react to side winds??

had been traveling on BKE and SLE lately , and the side wind was so strong ,

i was only @ 80km/hr and i feel the scooter is lifting lol~

my concern is more on touring , because i heard in NSHW the side wind could kick in out of sudden :dot:

I experince tat @ 2nd link bridge....

Full fairing.. catches wind easier.. no choice la...

Either worn out or it will harden.

Huh? Like this also can? Follow heart for me means easiest way which is to use the full concentrate. No need to get distilled water and no extra bottles to keep :p

No issue with too "strong" coolant?

Eh.... the concentrated coolant normally is for anti-freeze/anti-rust and anti-whatever.

The water is the one that cool things down.

If it says mix... then better to mix.

But... those in the reservoir same as the one you intended to pour in?

Should be the same hor.

Wah, same coolant or not cannot tell, but same colour (green). You mean cannot mix different coolant together?

Yup, just travelled Lornie stretch and much more windy than usual. But no problems with balance / control this time :)

What fork oil you put in there?

Original 10wt oil - the fork will dip a bit faster (soft and comfy but no good for braking/cornering).

15wt oil - just nicely balanced but can feel a bit of the road over uneven surface or humps.

15wt. but not forgetting my whole set up is totally different from yours.

my travel is shorten. thus front lowered. but clearance for cornering higher.

now fork dip slower & lesser. so wobbling prob during high & low speed solved.

wats the best amount of fork oil u use with the Hyperpro set up?

how do you guys react to side winds??

had been traveling on BKE and SLE lately , and the side wind was so strong ,

i was only @ 80km/hr and i feel the scooter is lifting lol~

my concern is more on touring , because i heard in NSHW the side wind could kick in out of sudden :dot:

i run 5 expressways to work, KJE, BKE, PIE, KPE, ECP; then another 3 to get home ECP, AYE, PIE, (sometimes +KJE)... wind? on and off la, felt some wobbling here n there, sometimes headwind slows down the bike, but nothing too alarming, etc. all bikes with fairings (especially scoots) will experience wind shear, we'll just have to factor that fact in.

just ride mindfully n defensively and it'll be alright

imo, the strongest wind zone in sinkapor is up on the benjamin sheares bridge. do take extra care when running thru that bridge

Still on stock IRC tyres at close to 10k km and 1 year 9 months old.

that's normal :p

other than groves' condition, also need to consider age of rubber and usage.

tyres are the important thing gripping the tarmac so i'ld strongly advise pp to invest on them... good tyres plus change whenever due or as necessary.

just my personal choice, i'ld choose:

1) metzeler feelfree wintec

in theory, these tyres should give the best grip but it is still not readily available locally (probably import on order), should be >$240 bah

http://www.metzelermoto.com/web/catalog/moto/moto_catalogo_schedaDescription.page?categoria=/catalog/moto/scooter/standard&vehicleType=MOTO&product_id=878972&uri=/metzeler/en_IT/browser/xml/catalog/moto/Scooter_Feelfree_wintec.xml&menu_item=/products/catalog/scooter

http://www.metzelermoto.com/web/products/newproducts/feelfree_wintec/default.page

2) metzeler feelfree

SW9000 has used it and feedback was it gives better grip than diablo scoot

http://www.metzelermoto.com/web/catalog/moto/moto_catalogo_schedaDescription.page?categoria=/catalog/moto/scooter/standard&vehicleType=MOTO&product_id=877194&uri=/metzeler/en_IT/browser/xml/catalog/moto/Scooter_Feelfree.xml&menu_item=/products/catalog/scooter

3) pirelli diablo scoot

many SWingers are using this (including myself) as these tyres are cheap and good. i've had a pair on since last march, ran >22k kms on them, up-n-down the corners of genting and cameron highlands, toured on both dry and wet conditions... imo, they have proven to be great value for money :thumb:

local agent is motoworld (muji) but can also change at KC (ah choong).

http://www.pirellityre.com/web/catalog/moto/moto_catalogo_schedaDescription.page?categoria=/catalog/moto/scooter/high_performance&vehicleType=MOTO&product_id=881267&uri=/pirellityre/en_IT/browser/xml/catalog/moto/MOTO_MV_DIABLOSCOOTER_SCO.xml

4) mitchelin pilot sport

this used to be rather popular but lost out to pirelli. some riders feedback that they give good grip and has harder compound, thus more lasting than those made of softer compounds. of late, its popularity have dropped among SWingers; some feedback they experienced "drifting" on them and also much more expensive than the diablos, cost almost $100 more for a pair (per my inquiry last year).

wow, thanks for the comprehensive run-through on the tyres! :thumb:

When I read through the materials on the Metzeler Feelfree Wintec, feels more like winter tyres for those in colder climate and not so much for sunny / rainy SG. Maybe that's why they don't bring in?

The original fork max travel 2cm from the triple clamp. Must becareful when shorterning the spacer inside. Arboh the rubber dust cover will hit the clamp.

Assuming distance from fork opening to dust cover is 9cm, my best amount of oil use for both original fork and Hyperpro is 10cm air from fork opening (i.e 9 + 1). All 15wt oil.

Feelfree (SG no wintec) has better grip than Diablo but the price also differs a lot:

Feelfree = $230+/-

Diablo = $170+/-

SW suffers from wobbly at 40km/h when you close throttle. This is common problem because the rear wheel cannot be balanced. New tires may solve the issue for a while but it will be back.

Maybe I will buy those waterproofing spray aerosol (those sold in camping equipment to waterproof the tents) and spray my jacket regularly.

I saw these spray at Giant a few days back (at camping stuff section), abt $18++ I think.

I've searched all over the place for the waterproof spray but can no longer find it. Maybe now they don't bring in anymore else nobody will buy new tents or raincoat :weep:
