I've searched all over the place for the waterproof spray but can no longer find it. Maybe now they don't bring in anymore else nobody will buy new tents or raincoat :weep:

You gotta search harder...:cheeky:

Beach road army market got sell. but quality wise not too good in my opinion.

you can also find a fews different brands and types from a camping shop at Velocity (novena sq). forgot the name of the shop, but its located at level 2, directly below California fitness.

personally i find that teh spray-on silicon types lasts the longest...BUT, its abit sticky and will leave your material with a "funny" feel... keke...

The original fork max travel 2cm from the triple clamp. Must becareful when shorterning the spacer inside. Arboh the rubber dust cover will hit the clamp.

Assuming distance from fork opening to dust cover is 9cm, my best amount of oil use for both original fork and Hyperpro is 10cm air from fork opening (i.e 9 + 1). All 15wt oil.

we never shorten the spacer inside. nothing was modded from original. only added something.

tested not to hit the dust cover. actually i added the fork guard that helmetbox have also. fork guard higher than dust cover also never hit anything.

Feelfree (SG no wintec) has better grip than Diablo but the price also differs a lot:

Feelfree = $230+/-

Diablo = $170+/-

SW suffers from wobbly at 40km/h when you close throttle. This is common problem because the rear wheel cannot be balanced. New tires may solve the issue for a while but it will be back.

its not because the rear wheel can't be balanced. who told u de?

u try my bike 1st then we discuss again.

i'm looking into improving the handling for the Silverwings. need everyones' comments.

If the mod(s) could helps to stabilise the bike, I will be the first to try this....:cheeky:.

Was told our rear wheel cannot be balanced because our SW final drive gear. Isn't there an adaptor or tool sort of to make it work? Else how do they balance from the factory, as I saw a balance weight on the rear wheel with original tyres?

its not abt the gears. its bacause there is no bearings in the hub.

Hi people, me thinking of joining the wingers but got a couple of questions.

Where's a good place to get 1?

For a 6ft rider, any discomforts on the legroom?

And, i heard maintenance are expensive compared to standard bikes, true?

Thanks in adv. Cheers

no bearings?? can't 2 bearings be used temporarily on the hub to hold the rear wheel for balancing?

The usual bike shops for brand new. For resale, need patience and fate to find.

Not heard any complaints on the legroom. But may have some wind buffetting on the head for your height. Some change to higher windscreen but some also change to lower windscreen.

Not true. Need to compare apple-to-apple with 2A standard street bikes (S4 if that's what's in your mind). 2 sparks, 2 litre EO, 24k km rated belt, 2 sets of brake pads, $170 per set of rubbers. Should be way cheaper than it's naked half-brother.

I got a 07 wing 2 weeks ago. Now the yellow 'V' warning light is on. Does that mean something is wrong with the rectifier or alternator or battery?

The V-matic indicator lights when the CVT parts need to be serviced / replaced. According to user manual, clean every 8k and replace belt every 24k.

Since you just got your bike and may not know the service history, just go for a cleanup of the transmission and check if anything needs replacement. When I got mine, immediately change EO, GO, spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, clean transmission, so that I know where I start. The oils were in pretty bad shape then.

Also check coolant and brake fluid. Manual recommends replacement every 2 years.

yes, such a gadget or adapter exists but most shops don't have it.

its basically a simple mount kit with bearings which is clamped onto the rear wheel, allowing the wheel to spin on its axis for the balancing task.

other than the extra labor to mount the adapter accurately to wheel's centre, the much smaller rear tyres of scooters (in general) also makes balancing more troublesome as the spinners (that spinning thingy the comes into contact with the tyre and spins the wheel/tyre set) of some balancing machines can't reach the tire, thus mech has to manually spin the wheel/tyre set to the required revolutions.

considering the amount of labor involved, it makes more economical sense (from the mechs perspective) to not carry the adapter and skip the rear wheel balancing.

if you ask around, i guess most (if not all) mechs will simply say that small wheels don't need balancing o_O

i was told Looi's used to have the adapter long time ago but when i checked with the mechs (sometime in late '08), senior ones said dunno where already while junior ones don't even know what it is :faint:

i've also checked with MW, TH, F & KC, the also don't have it :(

The V-matic indicator lights when the CVT parts need to be serviced / replaced. According to user manual, clean every 8k and replace belt every 24k.

the V-matic indicator is NOT a diagnostic sensor.

it is an "trip based" indicator set to light up at 24k km intervals on the odometer, i.e. expect to see it come on at 24k, 48k, 72k, etc. no need to be alarmed or jump to any conclusions as it is only a reminder (something like an alarm set to ring at 7am every morning). just reset the indicator (procedures stated in manual) and continue on you maintenance program will suffice.

there's also a Silverwing 400cc / 600cc Tech Corner which we strongly recommend new SWingers to take a look, lots of useful info inside there... you'ld probably find most of the common Q&A there

since you only got the ride for 2 weeks, its highly recommended to do a thorough "post-purchase" servicing, to make sure your new used-ride is in ship shape before hitting the roads.

the below 2 posts would be useful as references...

ic, how can some shops proclaim to be scooter specialist / best in scooter biz when they can't even balance a scooter wheel?

Since I'm possibly changing tyres and can last me maybe close to 2 years, I want things to be done properly. Will check some less common shops.

i've ever had my car tyres balanced using a portable balancing machine... but that was for my car, not sure if any motorshops have such machines.

after the wheel/tyre sets are mounted onto the axles, they are balanced using a portable balancing machine. at neutral (free wheel), the tyre is rotated at high speed using a portable spinner unit which is placed on the floor and touching tyre. another sensor unit is used to detect vibrations and guide the operator on placing the balancers accordingly.

some pp claimed that "mounted balancing" has advantage of factoring in the differences in weight distributions caused by the wheel nuts and various parts of the axle "merging" with the wheel/tyre set forming a rotating unit.

dunno how true :)

how much and where? frankly i don't remember liow but its at a tyre shop along serangoon road :p

not this one, something similar but a lot smaller :D

All scooters whose final drive runs on belts, the rear wheel does not have bearings. Thus cannot be balance. Unless have the special tool. But no shops I know of in Singapore can do it. Cos demand is low. I have rode many scooters, having run high and low speeds on everyone, see no need to balance the rear wheel. Balancing a wheel is to minimise the wobbling and jumping of the wheel cos all tires when manufactured, when rubbers are combined, the mixture is never accurate.
