went MW this afternoon thinking of replacing my rain-wear cos it started to leaking quite a bit during last Sunday's trip. would have gotten the drymaster if it has blue or grey for my size but they have only bright yellow left. also wanted a pair of gloves but can't find something that fit nicely.

gave up and went over to LAB and bought the OGK rain-wear and a pair of leather gloves for only a fraction of the price... paid only $102 vs $230 at MW. cheaper brand, but still serve the purpose :p

this is especially important for those who do not have a Personal Accident (PA) insurance policy yet.

our motorcycle insurance, regardless of 3rd party, 3rd party fire-n-theft (aka 2nd party) or comprehensive covers ONLY 3rd parties and for the case of comprehensive policies, the insured vehicles (subject to excess). the pillion is regarded as a 3rd party.

the rider (inclusive of named rider) is not covered in the event of an accident. some policies may have "PA riders" available but extra premium applies.

an example of policy coverage (terms and conditions)... NTUC's

http://www.income.com.sg/forms/insDocument/Motor-Bike.pdf

general illustration: e.g. NTUC's comprehensive motorcycle insurance

rider with pillion crashed the bike into the rear of a car, damaging the car's rear section, both rider and pillion were injured.

* rider may claim the policy for repairs to the bike (subject to $500 excess),

* pillion (considered 3rd party) may claim the motorcycle insurance policy for his/her injuries,

* car owner may claim the policy for repairs to the resulting damage (subject to max. of $500k and determined liability).

* rider cannot claim the policy for his/her own medical bills or disabilities, etc.

if you do not have a PA policy yet, strongly suggest you go get one to cover the "coverage gap". please check with your respective insurance companies/agents.

added: remember to declare that you're riding a motorcycle, as some PA policies do not cover motorcycling activities including pillion riding. in some cases, the insured person may need to pay higher premium to include additional coverage.

e.g. see page 5 of 10 in NTUC's Policy Schedule (aka Terms and Conditions), Part III, Para 1 section (o).

My hanger always warp when hang it up for drying and I feel the weight when I hold it with one hand.

On the other hand the fabric is very tough. So we gain one we lose one.

hanor hanor... i was willing to pay near double for the drymaster becos it is lightweight and small after packing. but the yellow color design cannot make it leh... maybe that's why still got lots when other colors ran out

the LAB OGK is slightly lighter than the so called arai design, but still heavy and much bigger than the drymaster after packing. don't think i wanna squeeze roll it like packing the camo no.4 for packing into FBO, may spoil the waterproof coatings.

hope the thick material could provide better water integrity and durability, plus some wind-chill and skin protection, other than the $$ savings :p

OGK raincoat have general good reviews. they are heavier and plus having better wind-chil protection, they are warmer to wear, and thats y ppl prefer the rs-taichi over it. but if im gonna wear it for touring, i think the ogk might be more ideal. anyway, even if u r folding it, try not to flatten the fold areas too much, will also damage the waterproof coating.

i also going to buy my ogk soon. :)
