Today went to Unique Motors (the branch at Toh Guan East) to do the $288 package servicing (include belt and rollers change) upgrade to $305 as upgrade to iridium plugs. The mechanic also found the rear brake pad finished. Got it change so ok now. Spent a bomb today coz found both tyres uneven wear, front and rear package another $175. Must eat bread and porridge for the next few days!

when you ride the bike and you feel that it is silky smooth, and feel safe cos tyres and brakes are all in order... the $$ is well spent :thumb:

but note that you need to do some running in... new tyres are slippery and new brake pads are less effective till properly mated with the rotor.

i also went servicing at Future this evening before the gathering. serviced my brake pumps, change eo/filter, change drive oil, change clutch pads, service variators & transmission assembly, etc. dunno how much yet cos haven't pay the shop :p

How abt Hotel Equatorial? 300RM per rm/2 adults according to agoda.

Holiday inn will be nearer to Jonker st... But if riding, still need to go one big round, walking, still need to walk for 15 mins. Can also take shuttle service, but I never took it before.

For me, I'm in if it's on the 14 May weekend.

As for itinerary, I'm thinking, we go in the morning. Go play go kart opposite the zoo, before going to the town area?

After changing really slippery coz the tyres not seasoned yet. I suspect the alignment of my SW is off maybe that is why the old tyres though thread not worn out but sort of uneven wear off resulted the need to change. Need to take time off to check alignment on another day.

Piang eh, this bike really cost so much more than my little lamb (Nouvo)......but the comfort of this ride is no horse run! And thanks to you bunch of ppl providing so much info abt the SW:)

Yup. Bigger bikes r more costly. But once all these wear n tear parts r changed, u can rest assure for quite a while.

Other than balancing, sometimes i think uneven wear can b caused if your suspension setting is too soft..

Thanks bro. Will get the shop to check again:) Can I check what is the recommended mileage for belt change? So I'll know when I need to spend on the belt again:) Thanks

Depends if u whack ur throttle or not. If not, it can last up to 30k. Recommended is 20-25k. I think Scoobydoo did wrote something abt service interval in the tech thread. Definitely worth some time to read thru. :)

do take a look at pg 91 of owner's manual (link below). for belt, it says "replace" at earlier of:

* 24,000 km, or

* 24 months

for me, i'm too lazy to check/monitor plus i prefer to play-safe, i do the 3-in-1 at every 20k kms; it'll be disastrous if belt breaks during overseas touring (costs of towing, repairs and disruption to an otherwise enjoyable trip is way more than the regular servicing costs).

if only local riding, i'm confident my belt can last me till 40k kms with my riding style.

honda recommends that belt should be changed after 24 months even if bike is hardly used due to material "fatigue"; things made of rubber will "turn bad" thu the process of hardening (exposure to heat, air and moisture), causing them to become fragile, disintegrate and break off.

this is same reason why all tyres have stipulated safety lifespans, shoe manufacturers do sales to clear old stocks before they become "bad" (other than make way for new designs), soles of shoes break off after some time in the shoe rackeven when we hardly wear them, etc.

My experience for front tyre unbalance wear was due to bearing damage. You may want to do a check on that

My 2 cents worth

Thanks for the tips bros! Think 24 months I may not even hit 20k mileage coz this is my alternative transport. Will change the belt in 2 years time then:)
