I was quote around 16.5k for a brand new Silverwing excl IU and insurance. (the lady also not sure about the model and advise to go down to check)

 

Do you think the price is ok?

if shop is BP, should be SWT-400 from local distributor BS.

 

strongly suggest you shop around and ask for more quotes before deciding... common shops where our kakis buy from are BP, M1 (not the mobile phone vendor), ASP, Looi's, Mah, etc. can try BS also but their prices are usually less attractive

 

 

suggest you check with shop for all the other/misc costs associated with the purchase and financing arrangements.

if not taking loan, shops usually ask you to add another $400~$800, depending on how much you can wrestle with seller.

although the owner's manual recommends inspection at 18k and change at 24k km intervals, the SW's stock belt can easily last >30k km if it is not abused.

since you dunno when it is changed, suggest you go workshop and have a full check/servicing of the transmission assemblies (belt, front/drive assembly, rear/driven assembly, clutch assembly). take the opportunity to check the conditions of the rest of the parts inside, e.g. belt, variator plates faces, rollers & roller ramps, cu-clips, lutch pegs movement, clutch pads/shoes, clutch bell inner face, etc.

 

checking the belt...

* check the sides (surfaces in contact with variator plates' faces) of the belt for excessive wear. if worn, the reinforcement fibre could be seen "protruding" from the rubber compound and usually "cuts" the variator faces.

* bend belt a little to see of there's major chaffing (aka cracks) between the "teeths", fine ones are normal. make sure not to bend belt to acute angle (or small radius) as even brand new belts will show big cracks when bent excessively.

If wan near Gurney Drive makan and shopping, Berjaya Penang would be good. Got indoor swimming pool too.

 

If wan cheap cheap in Town (near where we stayed last time), Hotel Mingood is nice and cosy.
