hi guys. need to enquire about a prob which my friend had. His X9 was getting very hot while riding on the expressway and so he stopped n open up his seat and smoke was coming out frm below. anyone knows what could have caused this prob? Sounds kinda scary as my another 1 of my friend's X9 actually caught fire below the seat as well. common prob of X9?

could be coolant issue( water pump). check the coolant level.... not a common prob if maintain well.

to change cone filter need to change(maybe) some item as well. Like fuel jetting and others.

Cone filter will give you more sporty sound, but then FC will suffer....

I wash with some petrol normally. Else i change a new 1 every 6mths. Filter is cheap. Cone filter is expensive.

Hi fellow X9 riders,

I'm a new 2004 X9 EVO 200 owner. I notice my temperature gauge stays at half way mark during cruising but start to rise when I stop the bike. Even a one minute wait at traffic light can see the needle rise 2 marks. Coolant is full BTW

If I continue to let the bike idles, it can reach just one mark before Red zone. The fan only runs when it almost reached red zone. Is this normal??

Hi guys. I am sorry if what I am gonna ask may sound stupid for some of you. I had my X9 Evo 200 for nearly 1 year now. It use to go ard 300 to 340 KM on a full tank without using the reserve. but for the ast 2 months, on full tank it covers only like 290KM. May I know what is the cause? I had change the belts, rollers, clippers, oil filter, plug..... I have not change my air filter.... is it the cause? btw, the way I ride is the same from the day i bought the bike.... cause I understand the faster u ride the more fuel it consume.... I hope you guys who are more experience can help me out in this.... do email me at [email protected] as I dun really know how to go about using this forum.... Sorry yar....

i would say it is quite normal for me.

if you worry, do a coolant flush.

Hi fellas...

I'm a noob...i will be getting my X9 amalfi tomoro...after a test ride today, and some things needs to do and well,I am sorry if i have to ask some questions that has been answered few thousands times...

Questions

1.The owner have notified me that the brake switch is faulty on the left and about to kaput on the right...Am I right that the bike won't start if the switch is faulty? Is there a way to bypass this switch?

2.Well...i noticed that the front wheel is locked or jammed when you try to spin it manually...i also found out that the rotor is quite badly worned on the left, and the owner told me that he only managed to replace the right one...well...i guess this i can try to rectify it,but would love to hear what others might say if they have gone through this experience.

3.What's you fuel consumption like on the 180cc Amalfi?owner said he is only able to get about 300km or slightly further...he said about 21km/ltr...which i think not so good rite?as i heard the bike could do slightly better...which my conclusion might be due to the front wheel not able to move smoothly..

4.What's the regular maintaince eg Engine Oil,sparkplug,or coolant?

5.How much is the transfer fee?any idea?

The bike have done 70k km on the clock, and owner said he have done some servicing about 2k km ago by replacing a new belt,rollers,etc...

Well...i guess that's for now...woah...seems like a long list of composition...but yeah...really needed this info...greatly appreciated if help is coming...

Cheers,

AJ

I can help with question 5..

you can go to this website ==> https://vrl.lta.gov.sg/lta/vrl/action/pubfunc?ID=EnquireTransferFee

you just input the required field and you will know the amount.

i noticed that the normal rule is either the buyer or seller pay the full amount, but my opinion is, since the seller want to sell and buyer want to buy, it should be half half. Unless for your case, your seller willing to pay the full transfer fee..

Before you take over this bike, perhaps you would want to ask yourself/find out how much more you need to spend to get the bike back in decent working condition. then calculate if it's worth taking over the bike. The rest of your questions you can contact me for answers after u think through and decid to get the bike.

well...to late now...i already took over...the transfer fees is $64..

the bike is not too bad with the damage...some i will try and solve it myself...

I've ridden both the Gilera VXR200 and the 2smoker 180cc...so roughly i know what to expect on riding this scoot and about the expenditure...except that, when you get older, your memory diminished and some have lost which you need to inquire again....:cheeky:

So far so good...me and the missus been smiling riding the scoot with her resting comfortably at the rear box...so that's a good sign...

So this is the bike 2days ago during the negotiation...see all the faded dash...

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s261/khamizAJ/misctoday042-2.jpg

I have sprayed some WD40 all over and the outcome is quite promising...i don't know how you guys maintain the colour of the floorboard and dashboard, some tips for me would be good...

well...I am excited all over...going down now to wash the bike...

Thanks Steve for all your feedbacks and advice through PM...really appreciate it...:thumb:

faded dash - you can use black magic which will restore it or use engine oil also can. only thing is it will take a while before you are able to restore it to a nice tone... if you can, apply it and put the bike under sun so that the plastic is hot enough to absorb it.

think u got your ans... by WD40.

2.Well...i noticed that the front wheel is locked or jammed when you try to spin it manually...i also found out that the rotor is quite badly worned on the left, and the owner told me that he only managed to replace the right one...well...i guess this i can try to rectify it,but would love to hear what others might say if they have gone through this experience.

is it the brake disc? if not, could the the bearings inside. just change that can liao.

4.What's the regular maintaince eg Engine Oil,sparkplug,or coolant?

EO and EO filter. sparkplug change only during belt change and coolant wise, flush your raditator and change coolant during the belt change will save your prob of remembering when you last done it.

one common problem of this bike is the mounting. how u know; when bending corners, the rear wobble.... and in worse cases, the tyre threads only eat one side......

2nd prob - water pump. take note if the water pump got stains of water stretch. if have, get it replace else face the problem of EO "mix" with water which will means u need to overhaul...

one last prob - lcd meter. protect the lcd meter via plastic cover or some tried putting silicon to prevent water. if water go in, lcd meter short circuited, then your bike is immoblised and hence have to replace the meter which easily cost 4-500hnd.
