Also since late last year, companies dat cut pay/cut work week...by June if no improvement in market demand...wil most likely go for d last Resort.....

This is a job for Creative Technology!!! Apparently we are not innovative enuff, all we can think of is F1 and Casino to booast! I am thinking outsource biz at a fraction of the price of what biz are currently paying, that is do-able and should attract their attention now.

if ur job/career fulfill the following 3, then you will not be affected

 

1) if your in a service, financial or sales line

2) if what you do cant be replaced by foreign talents

3) if your in the profit-center, not the cost-center of the company your in

i giving tuition.. all my students keeping me.. their parents work for government (father prison officer/scdf officer etc) so i'm not affected one bit. but then again this is not my career.. still waiting for uni entrance

you know... sometimes i wonder how these experts or analyst get their estimate about when a recession will recover?

Because whoever gave his opinion wil not appear in media to say "Ooops i am sorry! its been 6 months and the economy is worst off" So these guys aways appear smart!

 

Anyone with finance back ground care to share?

I know its a little brain crunching but we r in recession! we have time:)

In my opinion, the worst have yet to come. Perhaps from June onwards it will be tougher.

 

Financial sector and manufacturing sector are worst hit by the credit crunch so far.

GDP growth this year will shrink as much as 10% as compared to the good years we had.

 

Its competitive everywhere now and there is no lack of qualified people everywhere.

From a casual chat with my friend who is in HR, he claims that for every single vacant position he had in his co, over 100 candidates are vying for the vacancy. It simply overwhelming with people from all walks of life range from fresh graduate to experienced or even ex AVP of some banks applying for a junior-mid level position.

 

Times are really tough now.

I from finance backgrd, but this is what i learn, as you all should by now. Whatever qualify or unqualify people say, take it with a pinch of salt. Becos we are living in a marketing-con-driven society, on a daily basis, no point holding their words like a prohency thats bound to happen just becos they have study XXX in XXX university or is a XXX licensed financial expert. These are market forces at work, whatever textbook theory is only theory, yet to 100% proven to make any accurate forecast at all.

If university can give you an education that can move the world, then how cum bankers can make banks bankrupt, banks employed the best of the best u noe. These jokers aint cheap.

 

I throw away my financial theory and share my thots on these, 2/3 of the world are manufacturing driven to sell to 1/3 of the world buying population (mainly US, Europe, Japan). But now that this 1/3 population is in financial crunch, they have money not-enuff to spend on whatever the 2/3 manufacturing population can produce, the economy is stuck. So becomes oversupply, and u see electronics at Courts, Giant hypermart getting dirt cheap nowadays. Becos their intended buyers in the West is not taking in orders from China and India. So its left to Asia to take up this slack, if Asia can. Else more factories will close down and with it, more MNCs with too much assets thats not paid up.

 

Now the monitoring timeline seems to be Jun'09, wait 2 quarters of performance to see if there sales are moving after the Big Recession announcement globally. Those clowns that jump the gun and start predicting now are just betting on making a name for themselves or trying to influence buyer sentiments for their own selfish reasons.

Its retaining its value superbly. $3-4K USD on ebay... give it another few more years and it will be a collectors item.
