Anyone here have starter problems?

Recently, almost always, when I start the bike, it clicks but no action. I have to keep pressing the starter button a few times before it fires up.

Quick update to the lost keys saga..... so get a blank (black) from Hong Leong at $22. After that go get it cut......

Once done, bring all the keys that you have, red + black and they will syncronise all 3 keys to make it work. cost $10 for syncing.....

Brothers, thanks for the replies.

I have a 2009 TMax 500. No voltmeter although the low battery voltage/dying battery may be a problem. I will ride it for 100km today (I work in Cyberjaya, Malaysia) and see if it charges sufficiently for me to start without problems. Will let you guys know.

Oh you're from Malaysia? How's the Tmax scene over there?

The buyer who took over my 09 Tmax told me he was facing the same problem you are facing after a few weeks. He sent it to HL and they diagnosed it as a relay problem. The replacement cost and repairs was ard 70-80 bucks.

I am using DMV oil filter which has magnet inside and it is also for tmax. PM me know if you want the oil filter as I have bought extra when I went Taiwan few years back. PM me if you are interested. Cheers...

Yup it's the starter relay, wear and tear.....price wise somewhere there, relay cost abt $50, labour $20.

Singapore registered TMax 500. I now live in KL. I get filters and spares from Singapore. There are a few "big bike" mechanics here I trust but you need to provide the parts. 99.9% won't touch them and even if they do, you don't want them to:) having said that, the good ones are resourceful and inexpensive. And friendly. Malaysia mah. Of course I have to go back to Singapore for bike inspection etc.

After 100km run yesterday, I don't have that starter problem but the verdict is still out. Will report back later. I too suspect it is a relay problem but I have also been having some battery hookup problem (loose terminals) that I just fixed last weekend. So for example, if it is a starter relay problem, I would have to pick it up from Singapore. Yamaha here doesn't want to know about TMax because they don't carry them. All TMax here are parallel imports and hence, unaffordable. Just seen 1 530 here so far. I am sure he is a billionaire.

I have a Yoshimura R-77 carbon fibre full system for Tmax 500 & 530, if anyone's interested. Cheap sale $450 including improved silencer.

This system is NOT LTA approved.

Do note that the approved systems available for the Tmax are expensive for what they are - to remain legal, they have to have their restrictive silencers / db killers installed in the pipe - which makes the full system not really a full system after all.

Ok let me rephrase: The carbonfibre Yoshimura R-77 system for the Tmax is currently not LTA approved. Ok? That's all you need to know. Cheers & ride safe!

But it sure makes one hell of an exhaust note! Too bad my Tmax is also my daily ride, if not I'll get it off your hands.

Hi guys,

Are the Tmax 530 headlights HID?

No they're not. They're using H11 bulbs.

Don't get shock! I just had my gianeilli full sys only approved by lta after waited for 5 and a half months. My neck is back to it original position now. Every country has restrictive on certain things but: time to give the road user what they should have .
