Hello Keynes. Wow. a regular guy who never rides a bike would say yikes so much problem but they dont know how good the burg 650 exe as a ride. I love the hum of the engine ( which coincidentally i see you didnt make any repair). All of the repair I consider are very minor. Can I know how much km did your Burg travelled. When I sold mine (FZ plate) it was 8 yrs old, it had travelled only 115k km. To me that was ridiculously low. I saw an older 2002 model then had gone more than 200k km.

But sadly there were several factors which made me sell the Burg away.

1) strange placing of the petrol tank at the back and the small bar just near the mouth

2) heavy +++

3) fish tailing of the rear especially at highway or heavy rain. ( i couldnt figure out why} rear box? , or suspension or wheels. while on normal days, it is so stable

4) i used the burg to work at town area. everytime i had to squeeze the burg in between cars make me squirm. luckily the mirrors are foldable with a switch. I also saw a burg which has lost its ability to fold the mirror. i am sure to repair the switch is expensive BUT NOT as expensive as changing the mirrors

Would i buy another burg 650? yes but not the new burg. I would surely buy back my old burg or any that is whithin that period. I have noticed many burg have been sprayed with new paint making their logo at the rear being taken away. Most probably riders dropped their bike and thus need to paint new. Mine included. when i bought it i noticed the logo were gone. i was sad but i went to ask Suzuki at Rangoon and asked for a replacement. but it was ex so I decided not to buy. I am sure when it was sprayed, somebody swipped it away.

for a 7 year old scoot that I had, I never had the problem that Keynes had. The only thing I did was to change the petrol cover which somehow dropped, and the regular engine oil change. I also bought the much discussed screw at the drive .

When I sold it at 9 years old, it was about 125,000 km.

Wow, my 9-month old L6 is only 8700 km!

Reliable? Of course.

Yes, the new odel is more reliable.

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

My personal observation is that the Burgman 650 exec is not a popular bike in Singapore as compared to burgman 400 and Yamaha T-max.

IMHO I think it is due to T-max being more sporty and handles better and due to the almost-same-size of burgman 400 and 650, buyers will buy B400 instead of B650 due to its lower financial commitment and licensing requirements (Class 2A versus 2).

But frankly if anyone wishes to upgrade FROM B650, he/she will surely face disappointment as I do because there is really no scooter to upgrade to.

Unless you enter the league of big touring motorcycles.

IMO, it is not popular because not many know what goes under the hood of a B650.

Generally Suzukis in SG are underrated - Mostly only know Gixxer & Haya or DRZs. Previously on DL650 for more than 7 years. Good mileage per tank vs Torque as it is V-twin engine. When I explained more about B650 almost all those I talked to gave me a stunned look. Wow I didnt know it is like that one... etc)

Besides the fact it is a good scooter & all rounder. Other important factor is peer pressure. Sports scoot for 2B maybe Xciting 400 that not all will accept Taiwan scoot. X-max 400 might be slightly over priced .. not to mention the new X-max 300. Rest are normal Maxi scooter which are generally meant for comfort transport.

SRV850? Scooter too big a cc , fuel consumption will go down. Really want big bike should move back to manual bike...

Generally I feel you know what you need. Comfort, space, no belt... B650 is the one

Given the pricing range for B650 vs CG650T vs Tmax is around the same in SG's context....

So really see what you want in the end.. .Sports? Branded? Executive?

purely 2 cents worth...

My K6 650 exec belt at 177k km.

Have been riding this bike since day 1 n still feels no other bike can beat it in terms of mileage, comfort n storage n that's y I renew my COE n perform major overhaul to this bike. My 2 cents opinion.

Belt is cheap. $300++. The labor to change it n the parts to change together with it will b much X.

I was informed the engine needs to be lowered.

Guess that's why the 2 man-days required.

Will factor this in to include other replacements concurrently when the time comes.

Thx.

All fuel tanks are not accurate.

Always that +/- 0.1 or 0.2 L.

As for base plate... can get from Suzuki Guan Hoe.

Alternatively, no need top box if not going to pack a lot of things everyday.
