I have an issue here.

My fairing vibrates on the right side, anyone face similiar problem before?

I'm able to pull that side out slighting even w/o unlocking any screws / nuts.

I've tried tightening all the visible nuts but to no avail.

If the vibration is from windshield, then check the screw and rubber nut. Either the threads on nuts or screws have worn out (replace).

**If the vibration from front crowling, the whole big piece around head light. Then you have to check the screws and the nuts. The screws are attached to crowling and the nuts are clip or attached to body frame(removal). The nut look something similar to metal clip, about 1.5cm x 1cm x 0.5cm, its flat and there are 3-5 thread on it. Maybe yours has dropped out, or the flat nut does not clip to body frame.

It cost less than $5 per piece(can't remember).

Serviced my rear brake caliper this morning with the help and advice from Custom.

1. Replaced piston seal.

2. Wash, clean and polish the brake housing, piston, brake pads etc.

3. Breach brake fluid.

Result:

While moving, can't hear the "scratching" sound anymore.

Turn the wheel ( bike on main stand), there is abit of rubbing sound but much more easy to rotate the wheel.

It's on the right side facing us when we're on the bike. (circle in red)

I've tried re-tightening the screw behind the right signal light but it doesnt seem to help. Checked and confirmed that the rubber nut for this screw is still around.

Bro,

Here is the picture.

I had replaced mine before.

The rubber behind the fairing helps to prevent screw drop off and absorb vibartion only.

Check for this clip, it clips to your bike body frame.

You may refer to left side fairing.

It is very easy to replace this clip, can DIY 5 mins job.

Tools you need

1. Long nose/normal plier or your fingers.

2. Alien key set.

3. 17 or adjustable open-end spanner.

4. + screw driver

HI Bro MCtan,

So how much is the total cost for repairing?

I just got it so called repair at my other bike shop recently , he changed my piston seal.

but never breach the fluid .

i did see him polish my brake ,clean my brake also ....

He also suggest that i change my Rear brake rotor also .

anyway did u change the this brake rotor ??..... my mechanic told me that the rotor wheel is one of the cause of wear & tear of brake fast .cos got scrathes and rough side wears out faster on the inner side of my brake pad.

I spent $20 for the piston seal, $9 brake fluid and $0.60 for sand paper.

Repair job- DIY.

I never change the brake disc (rotor), because mine still under usable condition. But I might consider change it when time to change tyre.

Err... How come he never breach the brake fluid?

When pistons are removed from the housing, brake fluid will flow out. After replace the seals and insert back pistons, brake fluid has to breach inorder to remove the air inside.

Bro MCtan ,

errrrrrrr wat u mean by the "brake caliper? the longer side of the clip facing front or rear?" :cheeky:

a bit blur ah ..... wat i know from the mechanic is that the inner side of my rotor is scratch and part of the reason wear & tear the inner side of my brake super fast but the outer also the same .

Bro Custom ,

thanks for the "KONG FU " that u mention , i did not really see carefully how they service my rear brake calipers .... maybe i did not see them doing the breach of fluid ......he he he :cheeky:

but then again got to make trip and let the HL agent check and see wat they comment & suggest.

THKS ALL AGAIN YA ......

Hi Bro vtec666,

Sorry, the clip that I asked was referring to Custom.

The brake caliper is the whole rear brake, where the brake pads are.

During my visit to HL, the mechanic also mention that my rotor had worn out. He suggested either change brand new one or send it for machining. Since I don't really use alot of rear brake for braking and it is still usable and safe to use, just leave it for the time being.

Are you coming for this 29th meet up?

bro,

don't waste the time to send for machining.

Our rotor is harden to a some HRC.

If it had worn out, better to change it coz the metal will not have the required hardness to withstand the braking power.

some specs tat u may wan to know:

Rear disc thickness

std: 5mm

service limit: 4.5mm

max runout: 0.15mm

Bro,

A good and precious machining will be more ex than getting a new one. Then after machining liao, have to send for treatment. :faint:
