You need to place the exact weight. And also got to position them in a specific direction.

I guess you have place too much or too little and face the wrong direction and hence the rain reach your area.

Ok... I don't know where to post this, but I thought since we gather every friday for either a short or long ride, it's better to start off here. I realised new riders do not know about some standard practices of convoy riding and tend to be alittle hazardous, even some of the "veterans" are guilty of not conforming to convoy practices. Please take your time to go through, will definitely provide a more pleasant ride.

 

Maybe fellow members can chip in on where to put this up or add on/edit the information in there.

 

Convoy Riding

Ok, before I start this off, I believe there has been relevant or related articles. Please read them.

There are still a few issues that weren't iron out, and some of them are based on Highway riding or non-town rides. I will state some of the convoy riding practices here again based on my experience.

 

Convoy Riding Thumb of Rule

1. Always ride in stagger formation

2. Always keep a safe following distance on the move

(Standard following distance as guide, 50km/h e.g 5 bikes/cars distance)

3. May ride in 1 straight file when negotiating bend, but maintain even further following distance

4. On moving off from stationery, subsequent rider does not move off until front rider has cleared a safety following distance

 

Frequent Violation of Convoy Riding Practice

1. Riders ride in a backside-to-backside fashion

2. Subsequent rider did not wait for rider infront/side to move off for a certain distance before moving off

3. Following rider did not follow safe following distance

4. Following rider stays in blind spot of another rider

5. Riders ride to the side of another rider (when slowing down or going to stop)

6. Following rider inches forward to front rider not following safe distance (when following rider assumes front rider is going to stop or slow down, hence closes the following distance)

 

Common Reasons of Convoy Riding Practices

1. In a stagger formation, under emergency instances, the 3rd subsequent rider has reaction time of 2 x safe-following-distance.

2. Greater the following distance, the better of individual maneouvering.

3. Following riders has more reaction time to leader's signalling, whether to filter, turn or negotiate corners.

4. Does not result in a pile up when lead rider decides to stop urgently.

5. Safety lah, just don't follow closely can or not.

Most importantly NEVER NEVER break the safe following distance rule at all times! Or you will see history repeats itself!! Kekeke. Always allow front rider to have freedom and space to swerve and avoid road hazards.

For newbie riders, I believe the reason why they always follow closely is because they scared they go missing out of the convoy. Fret not, the last rider should and always will be an experienced rider who knows the way.

 

When held up in junction, or broke off from convoy, just tap your horn and we'll wait for you. :)
