Hi I own a Duke M4, Bought it last july from Dexing for $3600 w/o. Its a FQ6*** plate.I think its a reasonable price... Wat do you guys think? I bought it because of the brand factor and also the Stylin. Wins hand down on design.I believe that the S4 is a more dependable and proven bike great for commuting. Then why buy Monster400?? Well i just wanna stylo milo lor so buy the monster. The biggest problem is that i cant bear to put a box on my monster cos it will utterly destroy the look that the monster is trying to project, having a box kills it! Want stlye sacrifice the inconvenice...

Performance wise i not very good at comparison between the both, I not into the cheong full throttle kind of riding but i think it is good enough for normal riding lah, just dun expect sportsbike performance out of it, it will deliver just fine. Minerva parts support is good i would say, so far no problem with the bike except for the hydraulic clutch, very hard ah!Maybe its faulty?? But alot told me its like that for hydraulic clutch. The bike in my opinion is very bare and simple easy to strip kinda bike. Single Brembo up front compare to double disc on the S4. Max output i think S4 is more powerful.

Spare parts prices should be abit more than honda but not far apart lah. Only part i bought from minerva is the single seat cowling. I consider as accessories to be correct, $270+ incl Gst, come sprayed and colour coded!

My Buddy is selling off his red Monster400, its a FP plate. Single seat cover, new paint job, Exhaust wrap with stainless steel sheet giving the glossy look, drilled holes on the end cans producing a very deep growl like that. Haha sound shiok man! PM me if you want more details, he wanna change his ride to a Yamaha Majesty.

Heya

I own a monster 4 myself and honestly all the talk about high maintenance is not true. my monster hasnt even been into the workshop for any major stuff. i would say low and high end powers cant be compared to super 4. you must understand that the monster is running a V and ONLY TWO cylinders whereas super 4 is running 4 cylinders. so when pple say monster losing to super 4 is obvious! imagine u got TWO legs i tell you to go race horse with FOUR legs, you sure lose. you can confidently go into a corner together with a super 4 and surely beat him outta it because the V engine is designed to deliver at mid range. only at mid range will u feel the optimum power and the change of sounds and the valves opening because the valves are not spring rebounded like the other bikes.

the only hassle is that after every 5000km or so u have to change the fuel filter which cost only about S$15. so don't sweat on it man.

both are good bikes but now comes the time when you have to choose whether you want to be different?

uh ... regarding the thing abt v-twin engine , i believe tat a v-twin engines makes the same power as an in-line four of the same cc , but at a faster rate , eg v-twin can reach 30ft/lb at 7500rpm while super 4 will need to rev till 11000rpm to achieve tosame power .

when u ride a Monster, its not about speed. Its about style.

someone will buy a monster only if he or she loves the italian design. If someone is looking for power, performance he should go to honda, yamaha or suzuki

To be old and wise, u gotta be young and stupid

if u have a sound mind ($$$) u will not get the monster but super4. why? simple, the price of both bike diff too much! but if u r into style the super4 is too common. btw i think it was mention that super4 is blacklisted by some insurance co.

if i am to chose...mmm... will go for super4. cheaper to buy n easier to sell

Buying a ducati is more of an acquired taste. I do agree that the S4 is better in terms of performance, parts accessibilty, good resale and plenty of after market bits to play on etc. Sums it all up; isnt it the perfect choice! If you are buying a new monster from Minerva then be prepared to lose alot of money cos the dep is very high after a few years. I own a Monster myself and IMHO: i buy wat my heart desire cos owning a Ducati is unforgettable though its only the entry class Duke, it turns more head and spurn more hearts whenever the Italian marque is mentioned.

Well just my opinion hope you guys dun flame me. Peace! Not comparing which is better just saying that Buy what you like most important You must be happy after buying it. Cheers guys!

FP plate Ducati Monster 400 (maybe lower havent discuss with owner)

Which would be the best buy?¿?

Monster- 2 piston 2 spark plug 2 carb 5 gear

Version S - Inline 4, 4 piston 4 plug 4 carb 6 gear

Monster is truly babe magnet, asked 3-4 gerls abt how it looked all loved it :D

Version S common, but common means easier to get parts...

Hmmmmm..... :?

hmmmm..... my ver S only got 5 gears. or did i count wrongly?

Ducati Monster!!!

I love this bike! Yet to get my hands on one though....

was just wondering...is the 400 cc version an OLD one?

i can't seem to find a 400 cc bike on the minerva website...smallest cc is 620?

also, what's the estimated cost of getting one? 1st hand (if it's still available)?

else, can i get 2nd hand refurbised 400 monster from minerva? maybe it's like BMW cars and bikes....2nd hands are available from the distributor....

Thanks guys!

The 400cc version is for Japanese markets only, their tax structure got one 400cc class too.

I'd love to own a Ducati too, when I get my 2A.

Wah!!! how come your Ver S up to 5th gear only!?

What type of ver S is your bike?

Mine is the oldest Ver S with Nissin brake caliper and the tail light cover is black color with no front fork pre-adjust nut..... but still got 6th gear ler...

what is your top speed? 5th gear can go 180kmh? normally at 5th gear we able to go abt 170kmh before change to 6th gear....

funny ler....
